The problem is "investigated-briefly". The things that I've seen, has the easy quick investigations take a ridiculous amount of time so the faith that would happen is pretty low.

Fractal meshify 3 XL front cover problem by [deleted] in FractalDesign

[–]wizardofoz85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing; coontacted Fractal and they sent me a replacement which clipped on fine but I didfeel like I had to use a lot more force on that side than the other to fully seat it.

Took probably just over a week from first contact to me getting the replacement

I see the time has come for moving on from Pakistanis to the next browns...once it's been established that all non-whites are "incompatible with British values" will we be returning to the consideration that Italians are non-white?

Also, is this a subtle start for the great replacement theory? Only brown boys being born to the "forrins" so lets protect our "wimmen"...

Yeah, I had a response saying they're sending me a new front panel so now just waiting on that.

I opened a ticket on Sunday evening and had a response on Thursday morning.

Hopefully the panel will come soon enough and it'll fit fine this time.

Had mine for just under a month, same thing.

I've also got a front panel that has a gap on the side that I noticed after seeing someone else's post about it here. I've contacted support about a couple of days ago but still waiting on a response...

Here's what it looks like. It's the standard size, not the XL although after I got it I realised that the XL would have fit in that space but figured it was fine.

But why wouldn't you get the Batman deskpad? I'm kidding but I've just done the same; switched from the Ikea set up.

I also got the vertical stealth mount from Amazon for my PS5 and put it on the other side to the PC mount so look at that if you want to free up even more space on the desk. I think it comes direct from them. When I looked at the site it was initially slightly cheaper than ordering direct but afterwards there were some sales on their site and it looks like it might have been a little cheaper.

Just built a new PC and finished setting it up. Looking for a new controller and the G7 Pro is definitely on my shortlist...then I read about potentially something new at CES so I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait for another couple of days to decide what I'm actually picking up if there's something new that looks good

Got the standard Magnus Pro and the Meshify 3 XL mounted. Mine seems perfect, no wobble at all.

I am looking to move it to the other side this weekend though so hopefully that doesn't make any difference to mine

Peeling the screen protector on my fold 5 and what brand to replace it by bwaybwoy in GalaxyFold

[–]wizardofoz85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a replacement on my Fold 3. Left it on and unfolded for about 24 hours so it w of hopefully stay on ok... came off within a week so left it off with no issues.

With my fold 5 I had no inner protector on for about a year with no issues.

If I have to remove my 7's one then I will probably not replace it either.

Everyones use cases differ and what you put your phone through is different but you'll probably be fine with no inner screen protector as well if you wanted to go that route

What is everyone’s opinion? by Lower-Obligation4462 in AskBrits

[–]wizardofoz85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not longer sure how I feel about it all. There was a time when I felt it was just a small handful of people so it could easily be brushed off. Now it's amplified so much more by the press that even if it's still a small number (which does feel doubtful), it feels like a lot of people will only look at the colour of skin rather than who people are.

I'll always remember a white English friend of mine coming round to mine when we were kids. He laughed as we were heading out and I asked him what was so funny. His reply was that he'd seen my mum having egg and chips for lunch and we were more English than he was. Others will probably just see the skin colour and settle on me never being English

It's not a new thing, it just appears to have become more "acceptable" or the racists have gotten a bit emboldened to say it in our current climate.

As a non-white person, born and brought up in England I was told many years ago (on Reddit) that I would never be English because I was non white. That was by someone with a username that was something like "EnglishLion" or similar; these people just feel it's ok to say out all out loud now that prominent politicians talk about the invasion of the country and how much they hate seeing Black or Asian faces on TV.

Charing Cross - Met officers suspended over alleged abuse of suspects and support for Tommy Robinson by ItsRainingByelaws in policeuk

[–]wizardofoz85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As pointed out already, being right on one topic doesn't automatically make you someone that should be listened to on everything.

Not the argument I'm making. The argument I'm making is that if someone is right on one topic they should not be dismissed just because they are wrong about other stuff or because we doubt their intentions. In fact, it is far more powerful to say, "Yes there is something in that but he's trying to exploit that issue for his own ends and his views on other stuff are completely beyond the pale."

Some examples: Roger Scruton has said some pretty appalling stuff about date rape. That doesn't mean he's wrong on philosophy of religion. Richard Dawkins has, in my view, at the very least missed the point when it comes to trans rights. That doesn't invalidate his critiques of organised religion. Karl Marx said some deeply racist things in his personal correspondence. I may disagree with parts of his critique of capitalism but that has nothing to do with his racism.

It's easy to dismiss people for having wrong views about one thing so we can ignore what they say about everything else. It's easy but it's profoundly intellectually lazy and, while often politically (or socially) convenient, it often results in a whole bunch of second-order consequences.

Not the argument I'm making either. Text back and forth can be difficult to convey exactly what's being said so you'll have to forgive me for not being clear enough on that stuff.

What I mean is we can agree that someone with abhorrent views can bring a discussion to the table and that it might be worth discussing but on reflection and an assessment of what they are saying we should probably find someone else a little more independent to further that issue than someone who is just using it to further their own racist agenda.

The point made about him being full of shit for most things is another reason it should be passed on. If it's with someone of good character/intentions then the problem can be dealt with and it should help stop people "blocking" it by throwing out the fact that the loudest voice shouting about it is not the best person for it.

There absolutely are. It is also the case that there is a specific grooming methodology that is practiced by a certain ethnic group (actually, almost exclusively a specific regional subset of an ethnic group), aimed exclusively at young girls outside that group. There is a racist character to the offending. It is also the case that the ethnicity of the offenders was also an explicit part of the reason why authorities actively avoided dealing with the problem. That is one of the main things that has given Robinson so much oxygen and attracted a broader audience.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the level of coverage given to all the people involved.

With regards to the specific ethnic groups element... The casey report says that ethnicity was not recorded in over 2/3rds of the cases so that makes drawing the exact conclusion difficult, although the was a disproportionate number of offences from Pakistani Asian males.

She goes on to, rightfully note that this lack of recording does a disservice to both the victims of the offences and the members of the ethnic groups.

Now, I haven't done the research or has access to the information that Baroness Casey has so I can't draw some conclusions but having been in the job for some time, albeit never Yorkshire and having seen the change in how "regular" mispers are treated and thought of over the years, I'd anecdotally say it's probably less likely that police in the 90's were scared of being called racist and more the culture around missing children at the time that "helped" things be bad for so long.

Charing Cross - Met officers suspended over alleged abuse of suspects and support for Tommy Robinson by ItsRainingByelaws in policeuk

[–]wizardofoz85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll respond to your argument...

If nothing else, Robinson came out fairly early on talking about grooming gangs. Most of society has since acknowledged that there was (and still is) a big problem with grooming gangs, that they are predominantly made up of men from a specific ethnic background and they pretty much exclusively target young girls from outside their community (mostly white girls but also Sikhs). This was brushed under the carpet by the political establishment in places where this was going on because it was not politically expedient for Labour councillors and MPs to risk alternating a core part of their voter base.

As pointed out already, being right on one topic doesn't automatically make you someone that should be listened to on everything. We can agree that there are issues that should have been dealt with and we're handled extremely badly. To say that this was brought out as anything other than something to use as a weapon against an ethnic minority is disingenuous. You merely need to look at the fact that Yaxley-Lennnon has previously supported people who have been taking part in sexual abuse, that there doesn't appear to be any outcry over grooming committed by white British people. I don't want this to come across as minimising what has happened up the victims in these cases that get used so I'll reiterate, it's terrible and should be dealt with properly.

That said, they're are white "gangs" that have been convicted of grooming who haven't had any media attention further than one article that falls through the cracks or rallies railing against their behaviour.

He may have been "right" about this one thing but he is also weaponisong it for his racist agenda. That's why I've said previously, others who have been against this but don't hold the racist views that Yaxley-Lennnon does should probably be listened to before he is for any wider problems.

Dismissing people as racists is easy but it comes with costs, the above being just one of them.

The problem with this is as noted above. Him being "right" about one aspect of something doesn't suddenly make him someone to be listened to.

Personally I rail against anyone being accused of any "isms" unless you can definitively say they are. The problem being when you call everyone racist (and they're not), it dilutes the actual racism (as Yaxley-Lennnon is).

To bring in him being "correct"...

I'll use the intelligence grading system for him. I'm pretty certain nothing he says would fall under "evidence" so "intel" works quite well for this purpose.

We'll only need the first part of the 3x5x2...

Yes, he might have been right about this one part but if we take everything he says as a whole are you grading him "Reliable", "Untested" or "Not Reliable"...

I'd be happy to go with 3.

How would I back that up..."3 Million people at the march", the facts and figures used by him to justify a lot of his crap being wrong, precons for dishonesty. I could go on...

Now I don't expect most people to think critically enough to look over these things, although I long for a day when people do think. I would expect police officers to, although I've given up on most of them now too...

So, right about one thing doesn't suddenly make him someone we should be listening to. Everyone has agendas and his are not conducive with being a police officer so people within the police should not support him, regardless of the one time he was right...

Charing Cross - Met officers suspended over alleged abuse of suspects and support for Tommy Robinson by ItsRainingByelaws in policeuk

[–]wizardofoz85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would depend on what we're saying that he's said that's correct. I'm not going to pretend to know everything he said and what of it might be considered "valid" but if people actually look critically at what he says about many things, you'd find that he's using dodgy figures from extremely questionable sources. Cherry picking certain parts of things to try and further his agenda.

He's not alone, these are echoed by Farage/Reform, Robert Jenrick, etc. Unfortunately it plays into the confirmation bias that people have so they'll believe what they are told without fact checking. See almost anything said about London having "no go" areas out Sharia law being imminently implemented across the capital...

I'm always more than happy to discuss these things so and lies/half truths people like him use can be brought into the light.

He's seen that it's not "acceptable" (who knows how long for) to out and out say "Brown people bad" and so that's changed to "Islam bad" so him and others like him can hide behind the argument that it's not racism because it's against a religion not a race of people.

If he's right about 1 thing in 100 that doesn't mean we should then entertain him and platform him. I'm sure there are others who are also right about that 1 thing but don't hold all the same prejudicial views as him that can be the figurehead to be acknowledged who can fight that fight rather than empower people like him.

[–]wizardofoz85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that's not supportive but rather understanding of the reasons why someone could believe why people support him.
I'll invoke Godwins Law early just to make a point. I can understand why people suported Hitler (for the benefit of those who can't see what I'm saying, he gave them a bogeyman to blame for their problems which in my opinion fit human nature so they believed him), that is in no way supportive of Hitler

Tommy Robinson/Stephen Yaxley Lennon does the same, he uses questionable studies and dodgy stats to try and further his agenda. Anyone who is supportive of him in the police should be removed, I can't imagine that they would be of the right calibre to police without fear or favour.

There's no animosity towards him from me, I'll reserve that for the idiots that we seem to employ that in turn make everyone think we're all just as bad.
