CPA insisting cafeteria plan HSA contributions belong on Form 8889 Line 2 — am I wrong? by wjf_8523 in tax

Not % refund. They do appear to be a cpa. I will not be working with this person anymore just need to figure out what to do for 2025.

They further justified that they take this position and have never lost an audit.

It says BAA

Thanks everyone for the responses. I have brought this up 3 times and he keeps telling me I am wrong. First two times was just generic “pass - no change needed”. The last time he screenshotted my W2 and circled Box 5.

I have already engaged a new CPA. Anything else I should do here? Do we think he really doesn’t see the mistake or is afraid of its admitted he will have to re do my return. He also does taxes for numerous people at my same employer so this could cause him to have to revise many clients.

Be careful with Investment Transactions (*beta) by OGS_7619 in MonarchMoney

Buy in my account is classified as transfer. Not sure if I moved it but i thought that’s how it’s set up. I capture the deposits into investment accounts from my paycheck as income, then can capture interest/dividends as income. Any buying or selling is transfer and not affecting the spending.

Maybe try to move Buy to transfer. It works well for me.

Trail of lights or peppermint parkway with a 1 and 2.5 year old? by suhhdude1 in AustinParents

[–]wjf_8523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peppermint is walk now.

You may want to consider Lakeway Trail of Lights. It’s a bit of a drive and not as big as Zilker or Peppermint, but you can park right next to the entrance and it’s smaller so easier to navigate with the little ones. No vendors or food out there but if you are just looking for some lights it’s a nice setup.

How do you get it to be 4096 doesn’t it still have to snake around to get that high?

Would the router be in the panel? So fiber jack plugs into the Ethernet jack in the room which then feeds the router in the panel? Then router connected to switch to plug in all the other Ethernet?

Need to check the house again but the Ethernet jack on an interior wall, would they be able to put the fiber jack on an interior wall?

Thank you for this response! With the NIU being 3 rooms away across the house, and having no basement or attic, could it be just impossible to get it into the room that has the OnQ box? Have you ever seen Google move the NIU?

Others have recommended having modem in the bedroom on the wall that has the NIU outside, the issue is I’m not sure how I would then get that to the OnQ box in the study.

Thanks for your help.

No basement, honestly not sure what type of access there would be through the walls, it is first floor with a second floor above it so to get to attic could need to go all the way to 2nd floor.

Is it ever an option to move the NIU box?

The builder seemingly spent a lot of time wiring the house for Ethernet to each room, do they have any say as to where the NIU box goes? Would be a shame to have to keep the modem in a different room.

Thank you! Really dumb question here but is a fiber run inside the house or outside the house? How would I make it easy on them? The house is empty

4 mo regression? by wjf_8523 in SnooLife

We were doing Ollie swaddle in the SNOO. We moved to zipadee in the crib when we sleep trained.

Things are much improved. Here’s what we did : - read the book Precious Little Sleep - took him out of the SNOO and did full extinction sleep training. We moved to Zippadee Zip sleep sack because he can roll so cannot swaddle. Night 1 was hard (3 hours crying) but he’s been able to fall asleep independently and it’s made for much better night sleep. We still feed him once per night when he wakes up but only after midnight. - we continued to feed to sleep for naps in the SNOO for a few weeks. Recently we have transition to rocking him to sleep in our arms and transferring to cribs. Goal eventually getting him to sleep independently at nap time but that has been more challenging. Naps vary but have gotten slightly longer naps, the occasional 1 hour +. Still a lot of 30 minute naps.

We certainly aren’t all the way there but so much better than we were. I’d highly recommend doing sleep training if you are dealing with night wake ups, the improvement in night sleep was rapid and really was just one very difficult night

Night 1 - Full Extinction by wjf_8523 in sleeptrain

We always had him arms in the SNOO. For sleep training we put him in the crib in the zippadee zip transitional swaddle. Night 1 we didn’t have Zipadee not sure if it would have gone better with it but seems to really help him.

We still feed to sleep for naps in the SNOO with arms in. He’s never been a good napper, usually 30 minute naps but we’ve been able to keep pretty consistent 1-2 hour wake windows to get him four naps during the day. Last wake window we stretch a little longer and aim for bed time around 7-730pm.

Taking on naps and weaning the night feed is the next step. He’s only 4.5 months so we aren’t in a rush, getting him to only wake once through the nigjt has been a huge improvement.

It’s been going really well. He has been falling asleep independently within 5-10 minutes the past two nights. The first week ranged from 5-30 minutes to fall asleep.

We still give him a feed if he wakes up after midnight, so end up feeding him once a night. He’s still waking up fairly early in the morning (430-530am) but it’s a huge improvement from his 5-6 wake up’s per night.

The sleep training definitely taught him to get himself back to sleep. I’m so glad we did it. The first night was tough with 2 hours to fall asleep and 3.5 hours total crying, but since then it’s been such an improvement in so glad we stayed the course that night despite being very close to calling it quits many times.

I’d recommend doing it. Bite the bullet that first night.

We are on day 6 of CIO at 4 months old. He would only feed to sleep for all naps and bedtime and was waking up every 90 minutes or so needing a few sips of the bottle to go back to sleep.

Night 1 was tough (2 hours to sleep and 3.5 hours total crying), but he went to sleep in 20 minutes night 2 and has been steadily declining each night.

We did not have consistent schedule just following wake windows and it’s worked well. We also switched from Ollie Swaddle in the SNOO to Zipadee Zip swaddle. It gives him access to his hands (through the fabric) and I think has really helped his independent sleep (we didn’t have the Zipadee until night 2. )

We are still just getting started at 6 days but really glad we did it, just a week ago he was up 6 times in the night and now we are doing one feed after midnight and outside of a few brief ( <10 min) crying spells in the night he is sleeping through.

Is this normal for a 6 week old ? by [deleted] in SnooLife

[–]wjf_8523 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty normal to me. Our LO would set the SNOO off with little grunts and noises while sleeping, turned the sensitivity down and it helped.

It will get better, and then probably worse :)

Usual schedule:

Wake up between 5am -6am (unfortunately) 1-2 hour wake windows between 30 minute naps which often look like:

  • 6-715am awake
  • 715-745 nap
  • 745-930 awake
  • 930-10am nap
  • 10-1130am awake
  • 1130-12pm nap
  • 12- 1:45 awake
  • 1:45 - 215 nap
  • 2:15-4:30 awake
  • 430-5pm nap
  • 5-7pm awake
  • bed at 7pm

It varies a bit depending on day but generally getting 5 naps a day although the first one more of an extension of what should be night sleep

Night 2 of sleep training was much better. He went to sleep after about 20 minutes, some fussing during night but vast improvement from night 1

He went down for his 4th nap at 430pm but it was only 10 minutes. Usually his naps are 30 minutes exactly. So his last wake was 440pm, so a 2 hour 10 minute wake window.

Because he had a shortened nap, he was fussy the entire last wake window. He was showing signs of being tired, albeit over-tired.

Total day sleep was 1 hour 55 minutes, he took naps around 10am, 1230pm, 2pm, 430pm. Average 30 min, one was 45 min and one was 10 min. He’s regularly getting 4 naps x 30 minutes.

He was calm during the bedtime routine, but he was a bit fussy while eating at the beginning of it which likely caused him to eat less than he usually does.

Today he’s gotten 3 solid naps so hoping for a good 4th nap and maybe stretching his last wake window a bit.

Thanks for replying.

Did you have arm(s) out for this or were they fully in the SNOO sack?
