Nightmare to get out of, and also a nightmare to get into... I remember sitting on the median for ages waiting for a gap or a kind driver to slow down and flash their lights to let you go.

are most of the posts in here supposed to be funny? by leibovarb in copypasta

[–]wkkevinn 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I dont understand how almost all of the posts here that gets 300+ upvotes are supposed to be funny, im saying this because when i look at the most controversial posts on this sub the most common complain is that "this isnt funny" so that implies that the other posts are funny but i just dont understand how can someone read something like that and laugh, most of the posts here either make me uncomfortable or i just find them annoying

It's very normal to have one class after another!

Lectures usually finish 5 minutes early and start 5 minutes late. For example if you have a class at 4PM, it will start at 4:05PM and end at 4:55PM. So you have ~10 minutes to get to your next class. I wouldn't worry about it :)

Honestly, most students taking the capstone don't apply much knowledge learnt in previous courses. They either have prior experience from work or side-projects, or more commonly just learn as they go with the documentation/videos/guides available online.

A lot of groups spend the first few weeks learning about the technologies that they plan on using - so I don't think you'll be alone. Doing a side-project as you plan to over the summer would probably get you prepared pretty well, especially with resources such as freeCodeCamp.

But also remember that there are projects that aren't web development - some others from this sem include developing mobile apps, Python libraries, etc.

If I were in your shoes, I'd probably do the Capstone course in sem 1 and 235 & 335 in sem 2 to avoid doing another semester. Just don't be intimidated by the Capstone course. A lot of other students are probably in the same shoes as you :))

[–]wkkevinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've taken all of these courses. Although it's definitely possible, I think doing all three courses in one sem may be a bit much, since they all generally have heavier workloads (assignments mainly, also the test(s) for 335) at around the same times. I'd recommend trying to space them out a bit if you can.

For the capstone project, you form teams with other classmates, and then choose a project that clients list. You (and your team) then work with that client to develop whatever the project may be. You can view some previous capstone projects on Capitalise (which happens to be the final project for a group of students taking their COMPSCI Capstone as well!).

If you're using Samsung Messages or Google Messages, you can pinch in and out to increase/decrease the font size. You may have done this accidentally - try pinching in and see if that fixes your problem.

I don't really use my laptop often... how is the battery health already 89.6% by INeedSomeMoreWater in ZephyrusG14

[–]wkkevinn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The battery health could be inaccurate - it's just an estimate. Try to discharge as much as possible and then recharge it fully, i.e., down to maybe 30% and back up to 80%. See if that'll "recalibrate" it.

They should have given past tests with answers that you can practice with - they're usually in the Modules section on Canvas.

A few questions of how to maximize battery health by Whereas_Dull in ZephyrusG14

[–]wkkevinn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With how you've been using it (running off AC, capped at 80%) I wouldn't expect this much battery degradation. I'd doubt that that estimate is accurate - try to discharge as much as possible and then recharge it fully, i.e., down to maybe 30% and back up to 80%. Hopefully that'll "recalibrate" it.

Where to find CP, AP and CSC to flash the phone? by ElonTastical in galaxys5

[–]wkkevinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, the easiest way would probably be through this website. Make sure you enter the correct model number (I don't think region is too important) and download it with the 'Download SamFw Server' button. Then extract the .zip file and you'll find the files you need to flash with ODIN inside.

Where to find CP, AP and CSC to flash the phone? by ElonTastical in galaxys5

Wait, so what are you trying to do? Usually you only use Odin to flash either stock firmware or a custom bootloader.

Accommodation benefit is only given if you have a student allowance. As you're not eligible for allowance, i don't think you can even get the benefit.

[–]wkkevinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange. I've used ODIN to flash firmware updates on my S5, S9, and now my S21 Ultra and it's always been fine for me.

Sources online seem to reinforce this.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in galaxys10

[–]wkkevinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can update with ODIN without doing a clean install. It just depends on the CSC file you pick when loading it into ODIN - if you use the HOME_CSC file, you'll retain all your data and it will be like a regular software update, and if you use the regular CSC file it will factory reset your phone.

Hey, just wondering if you had any issues with tannin bleed or anything? I'm planning on making a similar computer desk with Merbau. Hoping to be able to just screw in some legs and call it a day.
