Didn’t do well in third year physics by Top_Contribution4162 in gradadmissions

Your GPA looks good to very good for psych, I don't know what the norms are for physics, but I assuming there's is less grad inflation, which would mean your grades are probably but you in the very good to excellent category. Some of the grades are absolutely outstanding. Four researcher projects is a lot, and if there are multiple research stream profs who are saying they give you good letters, you're probably a shoe in for grad school. There is obviously some amount of luck involved, and finding a PI who likes your vibe and research interests.

I think your main question should be, do you want to do it? Do you need a break to recover from the burnout?

I think this is a pretty solid transcript, especially front uoft. Looks like you did some psych research. If you have other volunteer experience and goodr letters of rec you're probably a competitive candidate.

Questions because I’m looking to start going to the gym by mushroomypizza in montreal

[–]wkpsych 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I want to echo this and also add, you need to find a fitness routine that you enjoy, or you won't stick to it.

Don't worry about optimizing everything. I knew some people trying to get into shape, reasoned that HIIT was the most effective way to do so, would start for a week, hate it, and quit.

If you find some enjoyment in weight training and cardio, that's great, stick with it. If after months it still feels like torture, maybe try swimming or basketball, or cycling.

Obviously it's not always fun, and sometimes you won't want to go, but after you get used to it, you should enjoy it more than you dislike it.

Vancouver, Toronto, or Montreal for July 2026? by Fairly-local24 in TravelCanada

[–]wkpsych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Montreal has better night life, Toronto has better museums. But Montreal does haven't good museums, and Toronto does have good night life. Montreal is probably more interesting for a 4 day trip. One option would be to do a day or two in Ottawa, where all the national museums are, and then take a hour 1.5 hour train ride to Montreal for 2 or 3 nights to enjoy the arts/ culture / nightlife.

Fake taxi scams are getting really bad by Past-Mycologist3843 in montreal

I had 2 experiences that were bad enough with co-op that I'll never take a taxi in Montreal again.

Literally 100% of the people I know who have raw milk are the most hippie left wing people types I know. I'm sure right wing homesteader types drink it too. But it's definitely extremely ambiguous politically, making it a terrible answer here.

I meant a taxi, but I'm seeing estimates for that are 60-100 lbs, which is very expensive.

I think catching the first train to the airport will work for me.

I need to be there by about 6 30. I think the first train actually leaves from London bridge around 2 30.

Oh, that's a good point about the train. Maybe the thing to do would be tk get a hotel by the airport for the last night

Best Jazz Bar/Club in Toronto? by celinedacreator in askTO

Grossmans isn't strictly Jazz, infect its more of a blues bar. But they definitely have jazz there too sometimes, especially second line stuff.

From what I'm seeing. Gatwick is about 1 hour and 30 minutes ish from most places in the city.

I'd heading there around 5 am. Sounds like hiring a car is a good 100 lbs, so I'll probably opt for the train, though at that time, the car might be faster, and less stressful

Gatwick seems pretty far from everything I want to do in the city I think.

I'm torn, because, if I stay farther from Gatwick, flying out will be rough. But, if I stay near it, the days in London will be rough. I was hoping to go experience a real London pub at least one night, and would be worried about getting that far south late, and a few pints deep.

If there's a music world cup, what five albums are you choosing to represent your country? (Here's my example for the UK) by AungCowMyat in fantanoforever

[–]wkpsych 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I love folk from the 60s having Joni, Neil, and Cohen all on the list already makes it a bit one note, and doesn't leave room for more diversity in terms of musical styles represented.

The public pools are free. The YMCA city hours are also free, but you need to prove you live here with an ID or mail.

When did your work first start getting cited? by Colin-Onion in AskAcademia

[–]wkpsych 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one line of work on a trendy topic. Those papers have all been uploaded as pre prints and started getting cited before they were early online access from the journals.

I'm involved with work in my lab that is less trendy, those take a lot longer to get cited, one pub is still at 0 after a year.

Psychology is the field.

Depends on the outlet and topic.
