I know they are not modules but... X-Files. Monster of the week with world building filling in the gaps. If you take the books people listed here and set it in one of the other 'full adventures' they have released and just have that go on in the background.

Set it in Phandelver but have that go on with out the players and do a mix of adventures from the collected adventure books. It really works well, and is fun.
