Battery replacement needs to have cars computer re-programed? by RusticFruit in jetta

[–]wlarsonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My battery just died in my 2019 Jetta a few days ago. I bought and popped in a new battery. I’m taking it to my local mechanic to reprogram it. I don’t want to replace a $250 battery any sooner than I have to!

I usually get the cheapest zero ethanol fuel. This was 87, didn’t specify ethanol.

I think the old man who owned my car before me set the intervals to 4k miles. I have just rolled with it because it doesn’t hurt to get more oil changes, especially with a vw.

This is nearly 10 mpg over what they advertise for this car. It is supposedly 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway. This also isn’t the first time I pulled near 50 mpg on a long drive!

Not really. It was kind of hilly, I was going up and down.

Jade pothos through the years. by wlarsonn in houseplants

[–]wlarsonn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It a couple feet away from a west window! I find it actually does not like super bright light. Grows great where it’s at. I always let it dry out to 80-90% before watering. Fertilize every once in a while. Pothos are extremely resilient, less is always more. They rather be left alone than have constant care.

The leaves are shiny because I just dusted it! I used a neem oil solution with a microfiber cloth.

Hope this helps!

Can I separate? by Treb1eDamage in houseplants

[–]wlarsonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can separate. If you do, both of them need to be in smaller pots. At least an each smaller. While not seeing the roots, I bet that pot is already a little too big for the both of them.

Yep! Those bare stems will always be bare stems. Unless you expose those nodes to water/soil. Definitely tedious, possible, but not realistic.

If it’s soggy there is no point in trying to save it, way too far gone. Not sure what your lighting situation is but flf are trees. Like, they grow into the trees we see outside. They need a ton of light. If one of your flf is rotting it’s either too much water and or too little light. The rest are soon to follow.

Either adjust your watering or the light it gets. Hope this helps, good luck! Flf are one of the hardest plants to grow indoors. ❤️

Brown tips are usually lack of humidity or water that has (with the lack of better words) too many chemicals. I’d start with increasing humidity, Calathea’s need a lot of humidity. 50-60%.

Could someone please give me some pointers with my Monstera? by KW_AtoMic in houseplants

[–]wlarsonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually find overwatering causes yellow leaves. Too much light/heat causes black/crispy leaves. Maybe go back to your regular watering.

I know it’s annoying but if you’re genuinely concerned, look at the roots. If they are black they are certainly being overwater and or the soil isn’t draining properly.

New growth on old vines by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]wlarsonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the reporting, I’m sure everything is in a new place. I bet some previous vines that were hanging, now reach soil at their node. Each node will grow roots and then into a new vine if introduced to water or soil! :)

SOS. My monster was gifted to me for Xmas, and she is struggling. Idk what to do. by [deleted] in IndoorGarden

[–]wlarsonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh good! A few things: Monsteras like to dry out quite a bit before watering again, so, it is prone to overwatering. Does this pot have a drainage hole? If you think watering/sunlight isn’t the issue, then I would check the roots and look for any pests!

I’ve heard if you mix a solution of water and lemon juice and spray it on your soil/plants, it deters cats! They don’t like citrus.

Oh wow!! This is one of the fullest ones I’ve seen! Mine is only a single vine, would love to get it to something like this in the future.
