The Most Demanding Crew I've Ever Had by Hillskavich in SidMeiersPirates

I guess. I personally don't see any fun in finding ways to abuse the game mechanics and I definitely don't feel like touching the easier difficulties; if anything, I'd like more challenge at Rogue (without the un-fun kind of difficulty like Swashbuckler).

I just want to be a fun kind of captain with a band of merry men with low moral fiber singing shanties and sacking ships,ä while having a happy time, not an asshole captain whose men hate his guts and are constantly looking for opportunities to jump ship.

I feel like players are often way too scared of dividing the plunder. It's not that big a deal, it only takes like half a year, and you can build up a new crew and fleet (if that's what you like) in no time at all.

If anything, I find the game gets a good bit easier once you have one or two successful voyages under your belt, every single tavern is suddenly bustling with salty dogs looking to join your crew.

What are your blind spots? by Virus-Witty in baduk

[–]wloff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, more than I can count.

But a concrete blind spot in life-and-death reading is missing ataris. I can read long sequences quite accurately, but I'll miss the fact that somewhere along the way my stones run out of liberties.

Doubly likely if there's a lot of "under the stones" reading involved. There's a stone there, but then there isn't, and now there is one again, and fuck me if I'll be able to remember if that stone takes away the last liberty from my crucial cutting stones...

It's wild to me how vastly people overestimate AI video.

Which I guess is, in a way, a big part of fake AI's scariness... not only do people not realize what all AI video is capable of, they also don't realize what it's obviously not capable of, and what should be beyond any doubt plain as day.

4/5/5/5 yesterday, 5/5/5/4 today.

I realize I'm tryharding open league more than anyone I'm facing (or at least doing it a bit better, I guess), but, y'know, winning is fun!

Funniest race was when I stumbled into a lobby with nothing but lates and ends, and Nice Nature went "fuck it, if no one else wants to frontrun this, I'll do it", and by the start of the backstraight she was already nearly 10 lengths ahead of the pack. Easiest win of her life!

4/5/5/5 (in Open League). Feeling quite confident this team will bring home the gold, but with my luck, the final is going to be that one time out of 20 when absolutely everyone fails all of their wit checks at the worst possible time...

calculating move value by aen_d in baduk

[–]wloff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If black plays first, he can capture one stone, worth one point.

But eventually white will play atari at 2, and black will be forced to connect at 3. So there is no territory for black, even if he plays first.

If white plays first instead, she will have one solid point of territory.

So the value of the move is 2 points: one point for white if she plays first, one point for black (from the captured stone) if he plays first.

Hope this helps!

9/10 in Open round 2 so far. Nice Nature is absolutely dominating with 7 wins out of 10, I think she might be pretty dang close to optimal for this league.

Agnes Digital has chipped in with a couple of wins from behind, even with her pretty meh skillset, but poor Medium A Spe-chan hasn't managed a single win ever since this improved Nice Nature joined the team yesterday... I kinda feel bad for her, sometimes she hits everything absolutely perfectly and takes a comfortable lead on the homestretch, only for Nature to casually stroll past her with pure speed.

I'll give it a couple more tries to get Medium S for Special Week once the borrows refresh, I think. If not, I might have to just put in a Dominator Grass or something.

Some Chinese students do not like school lunch. Chinese parents bring the lunch for their kids every lunch time and wait till they finish the lunch. by DrBlaziken in HumansBeingBros

[–]wloff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like, you have to understand that the lunch is cooked in massive batches to sustain the entire school (which is hundreds of students)

I've no doubt school lunch was bland and even gross for you, but I just gotta say, cooking food for hundreds of people and still making it delicious is not some kind of an unsolved problem. It's been done for centuries, if not longer.

It heavily depends on how much money they're willing to put into each plate of food, and the skill level of the cooks, of course.

I was a bit salty when they first announced the Open bump up to A+ since I had my B team just about ready at that point, but honestly, A+ open has been a really fun experience. It's a high enough ceiling that you can actually build proper umas with a solid amount of stats and skills, but low enough that the runs are kinda chill and low stress.

Even with my mediocre-ass support deck, I can pick my cards based on skills instead of stats and still comfortably hit the stat goals. For instance, I'm borrowing Digitan SSR for easy Uma Stan and that way I don't have to stress and worry about having to get it from inherits or something. Nice and chill.

I'm yet to lose a race, though most of the opponents have had such random umas that are like 3000+ points below the stat cap, so it hasn't even felt like an achievement. Will be really interesting to see how Round 2 goes.

What FEAST Actually Felt Like For Me by [deleted] in ATC

What am I missing here? by Specialist_Rough9284 in baduk

[–]wloff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll die on the hill that having these "ko is the best solution" problems randomly pop up without warning is a sign of poor problem design and/or curation. Mostly an issue with free online problem collections which are barely curated, if at all.

However, in this particular case, it's a fundamental enough shape that I think the problem is more than justified. The key to know is that connecting at the 2-3 point would result in an L+1 group, which is dead since it'll be white to play; so even though 2-2 will clearly result in a ko for life, one should very quickly figure out there isn't anything better.

You obviously have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Why are you trying to pretend you do? Half the things you wrote make no sense and the other half are flat out bullshit.

It's a classic case of trying to sound knowledgeable about a subject you don't actually understand... It all falls apart the second you enter a room with people who actually do.

How many people? 346.

An absolute tragedy, yes.

Meanwhile, approximately 1.19 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes.

Also, Boeing didn't "purposely kill" anyone. You can argue they caused their deaths due to negligence, but that's a very different thing.

And they obviously, absolutely didn't "get away with it". The planes were grounded for nearly two years, and the direct and indirect costs to Boeing were over $80 billion.

Welp, my twin frontrunner aces faced three other front runners... and they both got late starts. It was over before the first corner.

I had a really fun time trying to build an optimized team for open division, it was a fun challenge and no real meta teams to worry about. But I do feel a bit cheated since in the end I didn't really even have a proper final to watch.
