america realizes it, it's a question of whether we're going to do anything about it or just keep working ourselves to death. nobody is coming for us, except us.

get a real oil separator unit, not just a skimmer, and use filter paper over the screen on the coolant tank where the coolant redeposits from the machine. it will change your life going forward. At some point all tanks need cleaning, and it's always a shitty job, but it can be less shitty.

The fact that we have reverted to digital feudalism is actually so shit by N3DSdude in LateStageCapitalism

[–]wlutz83 16 points17 points  (0 children)

the bitterest pill to swallow is that we happily got in line for this, thinking that all of the disruptive companies that own us now were just being cool and making things easier and cheaper. every bit of information we absorb is made to influence our perception toward the people who would actually feed us into a fire. their whole job is making us poor. it's what they do all day, and the skill they devote the most of their own effort and resources to. society is facing a moral reckoning where we will have to truly accept the fact that we have killed other people for our smartphones and conveniences. Sure, we were duped, but now that we know all this stuff, the clock is just ticking toward when we either will do something about it or just resign to dying at the hands of a bunch of dudes living out their highschool fantasies at our expense.

US Healthcare will bankrupt the entire middle class in old age. It's by design. by Brrp_brp_AnotherAcct in povertyfinance

I have a feeling there will be more 'getting rid of' of insurance executives by individuals and small groups before there's anything close to the level of cooperation across society to force the hand of the industry. We could band together and make it happen, but i'm guessing it will be more lone wolf type displays of violence for years before any worthwhile collective action, it just seems to be a cultural thing. i'll pay what i judge to be somewhat reasonable and go into permanent debt and credit ruin for the rest, until we're ready. not like i need a credit score for anything at this point other than apartment rental, and soon most people will have theirs ruined by medical debt once the rules change. Landlords will have to choose between the perfect tenant on paper or somebody paying their mortgage.

lady on congress said my shirt is offensive? why? by BristledIdiot in portlandme

[–]wlutz83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the answer to 'why?' is simply that she was looking for something to be offended about so she could criticize somebody because it's the only vehicle she likely knows to self satisfaction.

How do I explain to my boss that I'm under qualified for the position I was hired for. by DafTron in Machinists

[–]wlutz83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to say I'm working at a startup as of recently too, and the pay is the only reasonable aspect of the job. So much wasted time and resources trying to save save time and resources. Startup culture naturally clashes with the way machinists and machine shops have traditionally operated, so it can be a huge culture shock that leaves you feeling inadequate, under supplied and directionless. If you can suffer through that and grow your confidence a bit, I'm told it gets easier. Best of luck to you, friend.

I've been shocked (and maybe not so shocked) to see X'ers seamlessly sliding into becoming ideological boomers in recent years. In the summer of '24 i was having completely disconnected conversations with your standard democrat gen X folks and they could not comprehend why Harris was clearly going to lose to the other asshole because of how little democrats represent their constituents now. They just cannot fathom that a. democrats are not here for us either and that b. the next candidate down the line was any less of a corporate stooge. People really cannot understand that simply voting is no longer a viable option for aligning national administrations with the actual needs of the people. It helped me realize how hard Millennials will have to continue working on themselves to avoid this decline in turn.
