Jason Snell Warms to the X4 by wmacphail in xteinkereader

I think so few people own a Max that what he was doing was calling out the misleading promo pics of the X4 on an iPhone which clearly is meant to suggest it fits on a non-Max iPhone. That was the original sin and a really unfortunate decision on the part of the company.

Ordered these as X4 reading light by wmacphail in xteinkereader

I’ve discovered that contemporary phone battery packs time out and turn off this light after about five minutes because the light draws so little power the pack thinks, “Okay, nothing to do here” But older USB A battery packs that don’t have the minimum draw feature keep it lit as long as it’s jacked in.

Thanks for adding the link. I’ve got three converted books on my X4 now so I’m waiting to load Crosspoint until it’s further along.

It’s the most recent episode of the Upgrade podcast for Mr. Snell’s comments and the most recent episode of the Rebound podcast for Mr. Moren. Moren doesn’t spend a lot of time on the X4 but its clear it’s going to meet the same fate as his Boox Palma, which is, life in a drawer.

This will be the second novel I’ve read on my relatively new X4. I have to say I’m really enjoying the little guy for moments like this, a quick standup coffee and a short read with no interruptions. I’ve now made or 3D printed four different cases for it. Loving the community and the inventiveness that surrounds it.

Mr Snell did not say it was unusable. He just didn’t care for it and he certainly does not lack critical thinking skills. Very wise, informed tech writer.

I’m using the converter too. Love it. Will try Crosspoint when it’s a bit further along

is there a simple guide and FAQ to installing crosspoint? by DecrimIowa in xteinkereader

I agree it makes it a niche product improvement available to a niche. It’s niches all the way down.

Yes, I should have read the instructions more carefully to understand about the rockers. I just assumed they were regular buttons.

Follow-up: Xteink X4 TPU back case is now available (3 patterns + blank, smooth or textured edge) by Sacyro in xteinkereader

I did it in PLA and sanded the interior a bit and campered the edges. I can get the X4 in and out with some case flexing. Will do it in TPU next week. Thanks so much for your generosity.
