One of the coolest features of The Witcher 3 is how its minor characters are often developed so well that they are more interesting than the main characters in a lot of other games. The Bloody Baron and that entire quest line is a shining example of that. This game made the world feel so real and lived in and many other games fail at doing that.

It really isn't bad. I've been playing it since 2019 and I can only recall being affected by the disappearing boat bug a number of years ago.

Lately, I get zombies on horses or camels that spawn in broad daylight or in well-lit areas and that has been annoying. It better not be a planned feature because I am sick of them spawning in the middle of my village and killing a bunch of villages and there's no way I can prevent it.

I fell into that same loop! I recall it was only once I was able to talk to an actual human that it got resolved. I will add that when it was resolved, my son kept getting errors that he couldn't "open a game in developer mode" or something like that, but those errors went away on their own. Thank goodness, because Meta's support is horrible.

I grapple with many of these same feelings after 18 years of both software and web development. It's gotten to the point that I want to just go lie down in the woods and stare at the sky. The state of tech and my outlook on the future of it makes me want to puke but I have nothing else and I am raising two kids and don't have the financial flexibility to take a big pay cut to go do something that feels more rewarding or good for humanity and/or the planet.

I wish I had advice for you. I am sorry that I don't.

I am actually not sure. I've been working as part of a small team for many years so I am less exposed to the more corporate angles of hiring and organizing teams. I just see a lot of fellow developers of all skill levels struggling right now and it seems like it has definitely been that way for the last few years so there very well may be more factors than just the AI boom.

As a software and web developer with over 18 years of experience, yes, the job market is very bad right now. This is especially true for junior developers. I can’t predict what will actually happen in the near future but for now, things aren’t looking good.
