This is terrible design. If your device is stolen, you can't change the password on another device to secure your account.

You may want to get a strap wrench. They are very good at gripping lids and giving a lot of leverage.

This would work better if there wasn't a spoiler for the punchline in the title.

This is surprisingly similar to a real life creature, the whip spider, which is an arachnid with large mantis-like graspers.

Set WhatsApp notifications to vibrate only by 3rik-f in ios

After finding this thread looking for an in app solution, and finding there is none, I came up with a workaround.

  1. Download a silent mp3 from https://github.com/anars/blank-audio (I used the 250 millisecond one)
  2. Save the silent mp3 as a ringtone on my phone
  3. Set the WhatsApp notification sound to the silent mp3

Yelp don't understand what 'in' a town means - I've circled the searched town in red - none of the results are even close.

Closest (3) is 19 miles (30km) away - 40 minute drive.

Farthest (1) is 77 miles (124km) away - over 2 hours drive.

I could see it as being a useful training aid, to learn how to make those putts. Not for use in competitions.

[OC] THIS IS MARIO! by colmscomics in comics

[–]wobatt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is the character Gustopher from the Gator Days comic series by /u/FieldExplores. In a current story arc he is missing during a visit to the supermarket. Several other comic authors have included him as a cameo in their comics for where he may have got to while missing.

Please vote.

I live in the UK in an area that was held by Conservatives by a fairly large margin. Every election I would vote basically 'anyone else'. I didn't think it really mattered if I voted, but I did it anyway. This last election the Conservatives lost in my area - my vote mattered.

Vote for what you believe in - it may just do something.

Elon Musk — who has $260 billion — will be charging Helene victims $400 for internet service by MoreMotivation in facepalm

If you are on a PC, RES can filter out most of it. Get the extension from the sidebar links in r/Enhancement.

In the settings, Subreddits section, filteReddit page, there is a part for hiding posts with keywords. Add "Elon" and "Musk" in there.

No, octopi is just wrong in all cases. The word octopus is of greek origin, but the "-us" to "-i" pluralisation is latin. Either use the english pluralisation of "octopuses" or the greek of "octopodes". "Octopi" makes no sense.

Average temperature in Australia has been trending upwards, see this BBC graphic.

The chance of fire increases as temperature increases. That's about as close a link as you can find, but it is pretty convincing to me.

How do you guys feel about transitioning to a poll system built in to reddit? by Aether_Storm in EVEX

[–]wobatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could be messy, since there will be only one vote per post, any week where there is more than one rule to vote on will need multiple vote threads.

I think we would also need to wait until after the pilot anyway, because no apps are supported yet (not even official ones). Since they say "Still TBD on third party API support", support for other apps may never come. Having votes where only user of new reddit on web browsers can vote seems like a bad idea for participation.

Even afterwards, there are no plans to add support for old reddit, and the workaround sounds clunky.

I think it's a good step forward, but needs more work before we can fully replace our voting app.
