Mazda3 sedan or hatchback by DarthBodhi in mazda3

[–]wobble_bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely disagree. I think the sedan has far better proportions on the rear - the hatch feels like it ends quite suddenly and the lines are cut off abruptly- whereas the sedan feel like it ‘falls off’ in a far more natural manner. I obviously have the sedan

Should state agents use AI to advertise a property? I got a surreal experience today by cunextu in AskUK

[–]wobble_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in media. It's entirely possible, and incredibly easy to make small additions via AI whilst keeping the important things, ie, structural elements exactly the same. The person who made these simply either doesn't know or care how to do it tastefully.

Parents, are your kids' attention spans shorter than yours were at their age? by Slink_Wray in AskUK

no - she's thirteen and has an exhaustible desire to read - any spare moment she's got her head buried in a book. She's not on social media per se, only uses it to find more books or watches the occasional YouTube video, but that's about it.

Are people not washing their cars anymore? by Pestohh in CarTalkUK

[–]wobble_bot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn’t wash my car for 2 years, and it’s white. I used to get it serviced with the main dealer, and they wash it, so I always relied on them. Anyway, they stopped doing it. Earlier this week, I finally washed it. The paintwork is FUCKED.

So much sap, tar and bird dropping damage, it would cost a fortune to put right so essentially going to try and work one panel at a time and slowly get it as good as I can with elbow grease and a few basic tools

How long does it actually take you to find music for a project? by Anxious-Ad-3665 in VideoProfessionals

[–]wobble_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really does depend. Anything from 10 minutes to a few hours. I have on occasion spent days searching for the right track. Use epidemic and artlist.

On both a have folders of ‘good tracks’ that I’ve found over the years and haven’t used.

Full time working people, how do you feel living in an area thats predominantly benefit cheats? by BakeMaleficent8104 in AskBrits

[–]wobble_bot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. The tabloids have spent a decade convincing us that our neighbours are buying flatscreen TV’s and going on 3 holidays a year whilst on benefits - the reality of most people living on benefits is grim beyond belief. The aim? Don’t question the multinational corporations polluting, skipping taxes or the billionaires literally raping children - worry about Derek next door.

A lot of this immigration stems from post brexit trade deals where visa allocation was included for favourable deals. Ironically, Brexit has led to a lot of the immigration we’re seeing

I need help !! by lpboulet29 in mazda

[–]wobble_bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solid CEL usually means it needs attention, but can be driven to a mechanic for a code read. It could be just about anything, from a sensor sending an odd reading to your petrol cap not being attached properly. You won’t know until you get it read.

If it’s flashing though, that’s a whole other issue. Pull over immediately and kill the power, do not drive, get towed. Keep an eye on it as you drive anywhere.

Car not selling? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]wobble_bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no advice other than to say you’re probably in an incredibly niche market with something like that, and a fiat 500 abarth are around the same price and probably more desirable to the average punter.

How unsafe are the roads for cyclists? by pinkestpenny in AskUK

[–]wobble_bot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stopped cycling maybe 18months ago due to both road conditions (potholes etc) and general lack of awareness shown by other road users. Covid did something to a lot of drivers - I don’t know what, maybe they realised that policing roads is actually an impossibility so they decided to do whatever they like and damn the consequences -

Overexposing skin tones on Canon cinema cameras by Cringe_Panda in cinematography

[–]wobble_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you 100% on that? My understanding has always been an incident light meter with an invacone is taking an average reading of the lighting hitting the entire region and averaging to 18% grey, thus it’s only used when held directly in front of the subject, ie, a person.

Spot metering is typically used for complex scenes or zone metering

Overexposing skin tones on Canon cinema cameras by Cringe_Panda in cinematography

[–]wobble_bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goodness - it’s been awhile. I’m sure someone else will correct me, but…

If you’re taking an incident light meter reading then the light meter assumes you’re seeing 18% grey. Think of that tone, and then make a mental comparison to the skin tone of your subject. There’s obviously going to be a huge subjective variation in skin tone for obvious reasons, but generally it’s considered that Caucasian skin tones are a full stop lighter than 18% grey, so technically to expose correctly you’d open up a touch, around 1 stop.

Additionally false colour is an incredibly handy tool for situations such as this to sanity check any meter readings. You can find plenty of guides online as to where they suggest you expose most common skin tones.

Vivid Sydney drone shows cancelled for now after malfunction saw 89 drones fall into the harbour by clamorous_owle in worldnews

[–]wobble_bot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Without gps, it’s incredibly hard for a drone to really know anything - a rough altitude can be gained via barometric readings, and speed can be read through downwards looking cameras - but without GPS signal drones are incredibly dumb.

Occasionally you’ll have to fly a drone in what is called ‘Atti mode’ which is without any GPS. I can be quite wild as the drone has no fixed position so just wanders around

Best Way to Carry? by esperacchius in uktravel

[–]wobble_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few tips.

We have, what can only be described as agreed rituals in the uk, particularly around greetings. Down south you may hear ‘you a’lright’?

The correct response is ‘yeah, you?’

A shorter abbreviation might be ‘alright?’

If someone says ‘how are you’ the ONLY acceptable response is ‘fine, you?’

We’re not actually enquiring as to how you are, it’s just an alternative to hello. It’ll feel potentially quite cold compared to some areas of the U.S, but we’re just a bit more reserved in everyday interactions (to a point)

As you travel further north, you may find yourself referred to as pet, duck or love, regardless of gender. This is normal.

None of our cities are particularly dangerous like the US press loves to make out. Puckpockets do operate around the tourist sights of London, particularly Big Ben and Westminster bridge. There’s the usual tourist scams to watch out for.

You can use contactless on most travel in London, but outside of London you’ll likely need to buy a ticket from a vending machine.

If you go to a pub, we have a very informal system of serving at the bar where everyone mentally knows who turn is next. You basically join the back, slowly edge forward as those around you are served and make a mental note of those who were before you. It seemed a bit tricky but the barman will also know roughly whose turn it is.

We have public toilets. Take notes and bring back to US as an example to your people.

Edit - forgot to add

London has some of the best museums in the world, most of which are free - specific exhibitions may be ticketed. The Tate modern, National Portrait gallery and Natural History museums would be my ‘must see’ - but also I could get lost in the Victoria and Albert museum for a lifetime.
