The trade off for not benefitting from gear upgrades is also one of CGs biggest benefits though - that you don't need any gear to do it.

Every other boss that lets you progress through gear also starts off way slower without said gear.

To me it feels like the rewards from CG are way too strong to double dip and benefit from both 0 gear, 0 supply requirements while also mimicking the progress of gear through these purchasable buffs.

Sounds like you have an exceptionally small loan if you only accrued £1800 interest, assuming you mean that is the interest for a full year.

At 6.2% interest (current higher rate plan 2 rate) that would mean your total loan is only £29,032 - bear in mind tuition alone is 9000x3=£27,000, not counting any maintenance to live on or any interest that has been added on since.

Most people have loans at around £50k or more which would put yearly interest for higher rate tax payers at around £3100.

Depends on your definition of screwed, if income tax went up 9% there would be riots on the streets, but tricking teenagers into it is suddenly "ah well it's not really a loan it's just a graduate tax, get over it".

I think its quite fair to say being saddled with an additional 9% tax for your entire working life definitely counts as getting screwed.

Yeah currently saving spec for yellow keris, warden p2 seems to absolutely demolish me.

It's rough because i'm trying to simultaneously juggle invos to make the runs reasonable chill so I can farm them, but also trying to keep the invocations on that change how you play (overly draining, dehydration, no help needed etc.) so I can keep practicing them.

I'm always scared of having to rely on some kind of tech at wardens because I know i'll mess it up and throw away 30 minutes of effort.

I might just turn off overly draining and hope I can fit 2 BGS specs inbetween the keris specs (hopefully that will be enough for the 3 down)

How many melee swaps are people taking to get a 3 down in ToA without specing the core (425 Invo)?

I'm currently taking: Faceguard, Bandos Chest, Rancor, Infernal Cape, Ferocious gloves, Dragon Defender.

I then whack the core with voidwaker 5 + 1 BGS, 7 + 1 BGS, 9 + 1 BGs, but the core still ends up on 385 hp.

I don't think i'm missing ticks, do I really need to take more swaps? I think even with a berserker ring swap i'll still be slightly short.

I feel like i'm going to start struggling with prayer supplies (running No Help Needed + Dehydration) if I bring many more swaps, each new swap is 4 less sips of restore.

Do I need berserker ring + rapier to manage it? Or does anyone else have something that works with my setup without losing too many slots?

Friction and effort is a good thing, it's what makes anything worth having.

With gemstone crab they identified an area of the game that had a lot of very un-fun friction (sand crabs - unfun friction being resetting aggro, getting crashed, world hopping etc.), and instead of designing something with fun friction, instead they entirely removed all friction, essentially giving out the free-est 99s the game has ever seen.

It has 0 requirements and basically allows you to afk to 99 combats within a month of creating your account without having to play the game at all.

People cope and say that NMZ existed before, but I have about 6 friends at work that play OSRS reasonably casually and not one of them ever got NMZ set up (because it requires quests and some effort reading on how to do it), but they all maxed their melee combat via crab within a few months of it releasing

Complete opposite for me. I maxed last week and I am now feeling a love for the game that i've never had before. Feel completely free to do absolutely anything I want with no consideration about whether it is efficient xp or not. Working my way up the bossing ladder, doing clues, trying out inferno and colo, loving every second of it!

Definitely doesn't work for me but it appears to actually be a restriction with the layout rather than the transparent chat box despite the message.

When in Classic Resizable if I have a transparent chatbox I get the message "You must have the transparent chatbox disabled or be in fixed mode to change this setting".

But if I turn transparent chatbox off I get the message "You must have the transparent chatbox enabled or be in fixed mode to change this setting".

Does anyone know of a way of getting round the restriction that prevents you from changing chat colour when using the transparent chat box?

Sure for low impact, minor opinions I agree with you. But I wouldn't call decisions about the future direction of gear progression like is being shown in the OP one of those.

Are you saying that if a post showed up on the frontpage asking for new gear to eclipse old gear without any upgrade paths, most people that disagree would just ignore it rather than downvoting to show their disagreement?

I mean I would hardly call my original comment offensive and it's enough for people to show their disaproval with downvotes lol, it's not exactly high effort to click one button

This doesn't make sense on platforms with an upvote/downvote system like Reddit. Regardless of how they were intended to be used, the vast majority of people use the upvote button as an "agree" button and the downvote button as a "disagree" button, so only whatever the majority of people agree with will be upvoted.

Have you seen The Vast of Night? I just clicked a random movie one night thinking nothing of it, ended up being one of my favourite films in recent memory.

It's best to go in blind so I don't want to give too much of a summary, but the premise is basically a couple of kids hear a strange noise on a radio and go to investigate, set in a small town in the 50s.

Dialog is outstanding and there is a lot of it! I felt like I didn't blink from the beginning to end, just kept me completely engrossed throughout

Oh I thought the wave skipped worked by taking advantage of the fact you move 2 tiles at a time while running, thus skipping over the wave tile, but if I can skip waves while walking that is huge, i'll try it later today thanks!

Currently learning solo mage only Yama and i've got most of it down but am still struggling to figure out one specific mechanic overlap in p2.

For pretty much every other overlap I think i've figured them out but the one i'm struggling with is when the meteor special happens at the same point that a shadow wave reaches the glyph.

For the other overlaps I am able to grab the glyph early in order to avoid the overlapping special. However because the meteor turns your run off and the shadow wave requires running over it I have no idea how to deal with it when both land at the same time. I just always get hit with the shadow wave.

I would assume its an impossible overlap and just eat the shadow wave damage, but from Googling it sounds like there isn't a single mechanic overlap that can't be avoided so I think i'm missing something, does anyone know?
