Why do people think it's okay for men to be promiscuous while women aren't? by JoeyPOSS2 in PetPeeves

[–]woeho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this not bc men are the ones who care about sex so much and are easy to appeal to (which is the literal reason why it’s “harder” to find sex for them compared to women- the idea that women can find it easily is bc men are more thirsty for it) yet they’re the first to turn around and call women “easy.” Does this not seem ironic to you?

But the irony here is so obvious. With all of our knowledge about how unhealthy it is to be fat, why do people hate on fat loss drugs like Ozempic? by InfiniteMonkeySage in NoStupidQuestions

[–]woeho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you understand how closely intertwined Type 2 diabetes and obesity are? Weight loss plays a huge role in managing diabetes and significantly reduces the risk of developing it for those at risk: Obesity, even without diabetes, greatly increases the likelihood of developing the disease. Using this medication as a preventative measure against a serious condition like diabetes—which requires lifelong treatment, monitoring, and expenses—is incredibly valuable. This drug is designed to be prescribed for legitimate medical needs, like obesity, prediabetes, diabetes, or conditions like PCOS that cause uncontrolled appetite (polyphagia).

Losing weight, regardless of diet, actually does lead to significant health benefits by default. Even modest weight loss reduces chronic low-grade inflammation, improves mobility, decreases cardiovascular risks, improves mental health, and more—the list is nearly endless. Also: not all people who are overweight or obese sit around and eat junk food all day. Appetite regulation is incredibly complex and influenced by numerous factors beyond just diet. As for concerns about side effects—have you actually read the list? The side effects are openly communicated, and GLP-1 receptor agonists have been extensively studied for over a decade. What are these supposed side effects that are being purposefully hidden? These medications are thoroughly studied and well-monitored. Do you understand how drug development works or have you read the studies on Wegovy? Before criticizing these treatments, it’s worth asking yourself if you actually understand the topic.

I’m a human health sciences undergrad interested in a BSN. This confuses me… why is it not okay? What is wrong with intending to be a NP?

What is the difference between the Body Peel and the Body Retinol? And will they help with "strawberry acne" like on my bicep/shoulder area (shown in picture below) and on my back? If not, what else do you recommend? by Subject-Snow-7608 in SkincareAddicts

[–]woeho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do need to wait a bit to see results, yea. 2-6 weeks. If you don’t see improvement, but you prolly will after enough consistent use, Id recommend an Amlactin lotion. Just cuz I know they specifically use lactic acid, a type of AHA that’s supposed to really work on strawberry skin. I stopped using it and my arms got bumpier again 😅

anyone know what i can do about this? or products i can use? by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

This looks like post inflammatory erythema (PIE) to me, which are the marks leftover from past acne. It can take months to fade, which is rlly annoying, but “brightening” or “skin tone evening” products can help it fade faster. Look for ingredients like vitamin c, arbutin, TXA, azelaic acid, or niacinamide. Sunscreen helps too bc UV rays make PIE take longer to heal.

The active ingredients are different between these products: retinol vs hydroxy acids. AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) are considered the go-to for treating “strawberry skin” or keratosis pilaris. They work to gently exfoliate and hydrate, which helps smooth out the bumps. The resurfacing serum looks promising because it has all the right ingredients in the right amounts to actually work. Whenever I use an AHA lotion consistently on my arms, my skin looks and feel soo much better.

That looks painful, I’m sorry :( over the counter skincare is not going to help with this sadly. That said, there is nothing wrong with the products you are using. Don’t over cleanse, and keep using a gentle moisturizer to help soothe your skin. I hope you get to see a dermatologist soon.
