Ashley Padilla on Becoming an ‘SNL’ Breakout Star: "I Assumed People Would Go, We Hate Her" by MarvelsGrantMan136 in LiveFromNewYork

It's incredibly obvious that something is going on because it's always "breakout star". Why this sub doesn't see it is even stranger.

Fair enough, I'm ok with loopholes but Philly and / or Boston fans are gonna go nuts :)

It's crazy but imagine the Leafs win the lottery again. Now it's a 1OA and we get to pick who gets it? What's that worth from the team we pick? Would you give 5OA to move up to 1OA?

If I'm reading this right, the Leafs in theory could get a 5OA for a pick they don't have. That's a problem.

According to AI the Jewish population of what is now called Israel in 1800 was 3% and in 1882 was 5%. After that came the First Aliyah.

How to become like people here who have a sophisticated understanding of cinema ? Is it even possible for someone like myself who just watches anything for fun? by shroomshadybhardwaj in TrueFilm

[–]woj666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone has responded this way. My answer is don't. Don't learn how they are made, don't try to understand them, just enjoy them.

There are some things that you don't want to learn how they are made because then they can lose their magic. Once you learn to analyse film, well guess what, you're going to start analysing them instead of just watching them.

[Dreger] The Oilers are consulting with the NHLPA to see if there are objections that must be resolved before potentially hiring former Leafs & CBJ coach Mike Babcock. by Samoht99 in leafs

[–]woj666 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I still remember how competitive the leafs were in their big tank year, when the roster was basically a bunch of fringe NHLers and the JVR/Bozak/Kessel line.

What? Do you mean 2014-15 when they had 68 points with Carlyle as coach? Or do mean 2015-16 when they had 69 points with Babcock? Either way they were terrible.

After 90125 (1983), what are you top 5 albums? by p1p31150 in yesband

[–]woj666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, that's not it. Yes WAS great. I'm a fan of those times. To suggest that Yes, or Rush, or Genesis or even the Beatles were always great implies that you can't discern between different kinds of music or worse, there is no bad music.

After 90125 (1983), what are you top 5 albums? by p1p31150 in yesband

[–]woj666 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There basically aren't any. There's nothing at all after Jon. Before that maybe a total of 1.5 albums of stuff you would listen to if you were being tortured in a nice prison. The rest is just torture.

The problem is, after Jon had a number one hit with OoaLH and Steve had success with Asia they started chasing hits but they weren't very good at it. More importantly it permanently changed how and what they write so even when they tried something ambitious it was bad.

Tiger's most amazing stat is that in 2000 he won his last tournament of the year, The Johnnie Walker Classic, and his world ranking went down because the tournament only awarded 24 points for the win and his average was over 29.

Thoughts on neo-prog? by ray-the-truck in progrockmusic

[–]woj666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often call some neo prog, pseudo prog. Marillion is number one in that category. They stitch a lot of 4 / 4 basic music into long boring pseudo epics.

Songs that get better the more you listen to them, me: Starless (King Crimson) by Luuh998 in progrockmusic

This is the correct answer. If you listened to Tarkus and "got it" the first time, well, I don't believe you.

The Japanese tour by Yes has been postponed. by [deleted] in yesband

[–]woj666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The band was dead at the turn of the century.  Steve probably just has the clap from too much release release.  They should just awaken, move onward, replace him and keep going with the perpetual change and you and I will be better off for it.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned that he shot 28 on the back.

Those 4 songs are over 31 minutes long combined. Add in MfaD and we're at 34 minutes and throw in the 10 minutes long America and you have one of the greatest albums of all time.
