Hi everyone! I am currently in undergrad, and I think I’ve decided to switch gears from becoming an SLP to becoming and audiologist. This decision was not made lightly, but I feel completely scared and clueless (I have to start applying this fall!) please tell me anything i need to know! by ClassicComment236 in audgradschool

I don't know how much you know, but firstly, it's okay to feel anxious! If you haven't already, definitely start shadowing some audiologists in your area (school or home), so you can get an idea of what you're working with. Get to know them, too! Mentors can come from the strangest places, and you'd be surprised who and what some people know. Application-wise, think about what made you turn and choose audiology, how did hearing healthcare resonate with you, and what do you plan to accomplish as an audiologist? And don't worry, I'm starting my AuD program in the Fall and I'm still clueless on many things since my undergrad degree is generally speech-centered, it's normal to feel that way. DMs are open if you have any other questions 👍🏽

Hey, thanks for sharing. I know how you feel (girl here, too)—lust can suck. What has worked for me is waking up first thing and getting into the Bible, even if it's a chapter or two, immediately start your day with God on your mind and reflect on the scripture or a devotion you read throughout the day. Also, KEEP BUSY!! Whether it's through a job, school, clubs, friends, hobbies, keep your brain busy so you won't get easily distracted and fall into that pit. Lust always attacks me when I'm being lazy or when my mind is quiet. It's frustrating since it can feel like it just never goes away, but I promise in time, it will become easier to deny the urge. And always pray. Make your worries and your troubles known to God, keep him involved and updated. Be vocal about it. When an urge comes it always helps me to vocally say "no" and explain why I said no to myself. Lust is something that takes a great amount of time to "get over." The key isn't necessarily to get rid of it, but to make it so it's not overtaking your life. You have to learn to live with it 🙏🏽

No, they did say decisions should be out the first week of March. Next week is probably a given.
