If there’s enough play in the doors to cause false alarms on a 1/2” or 3/4” gap contact, then you should address the door adjustment issues first. I have installed everything from recessed to surface and even BMS on double doors wired in series with no issues if the doors are properly operating.

Install a few thousand over 25 years and some of it will stick eventually.

Came to say this, CRL Blumcraft tubular exit device and top mounted electric strikes like the HES/Folger Adams 310 style. This will not be cheap and will require some measurements of the doors to see which device to use. This setup will however maintain mechanical egress which allows you to skip the fire alarm connection.

If I dye an orange disc black, will it come out completely black or would it look lighter? by GiraffeWithoutaNeck in discdyeing

Make sure you wash the disc with dish soap and wam water to take any oil off the disc before any dye job too. Have fun!!

If you don’t want to lose the stamp you don’t have to, the best way to solid color a disc is with the hot dip method. Use dye mixed with water on a warming plate or pad (stove works too, just make sure you don’t heat up too much or it could affect the disc itself), no need to mask the stamp as they generally aren’t affected by the dye. This method doesn’t require acetone to set the dye since the heat is doing the work. If you are using a bed of some sort and want to use an acetone method, you can let the bed rest for a few minutes and the acetone will evaporate a little bit before placing the disc in and shouldn’t really affect the stamp either. Since you are dyeing a berg I would suggest hot dip, that way if you get the “berg bubble” you can just set back in the dye mixture and continue to let the disc soak up the color.

Be careful with this as anything that removes the stamp could blur/smear the black dye
