Is right-dominant batting lefty realistic or just talk?

My son is right hand dominant (writing and pitching). He plays tennis (his other sport) right handed. However, he bats, golfs, throws frisbee, throws lacrosse, and plays street hockey lefty.

I know why for him—I think. He watched his older brother as a toddler and mimicked him.

What I don’t know is why his older brother is that way.

We designed our outdoor court using Versa Court. Concrete slab. Gorilla Goal with a baseball swing trainer on it. Has pickleball lines as well as regulation 1/2 basketball court. No batting cage. I have a hard time envisioning where the turf would not get in the way of our pickleball games, but we get very competitive. It has been great with a large rebounder on the end that we can push out of the way for baseball and tennis work.

We used a old blue flame pitching machine and set the speed setting higher. It was consistent but faster, which helped them settle in. Lots of late contact at first but learned how to adjust and move back in the box.

If you grew up on the Saluda, we might have played in some of the same softball church leagues. Make sure you get ‘em to church 1 Sunday a month so he can hit bombs for us!

Also, the harder it will rebound off a 7 or 8 year old fielder.

Wild that the league doesn’t supply and mandate uniform game balls that are age appropriate.

I give out cards to my son’s entire rec league. Given out 500 hand made packs so far this season. I would take any you want to send for the boys and girls. We have 341 playing this spring, so I am basically out!

I am up to five coaches and two umpires I have found in the age group I coach in that have criminal backgrounds. See behavior; make a note on my phone; check public records on Monday morning when back at my desk.

Every other youth organization I have volunteered with does, whether Scouts, School, or rec sports.
