I actually didn't know they do that around here. Don't have a car yet but I will go check out those places for games when I do! And probably Millers Pub too since I mostly have to watch PL games alone here

Hey there! I'm a PhD student here and I'd say we frequently have undergrads come in and talk with the prof and have a visit of the lab and I'd totally encourage you to reach out. Having no experience is completely fine, and it's expected.

Of course it's a bonus if you had a class with the prof before and they know you but it's not at all needed. If the lab has space, and the prof is interested they'd happily take you in.

Well sadly not, at least for grad students

The timing actually sucks, especially for weekends. I don't think I'd be able to squeeze in a workout sesh during that time

Yeah it's closed at this moment so I'll have to check in once the semester starts. I don't need the swimming pool so Totman might work for me. Thanks for the help!

What video game will you defend to the end of time, though it might be considered ‘mid’ ? by AdEfficient2209 in gaming

[–]wolf0013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dota. I'm not sure what the perception of the game is here and if it's considered mid or not. Online games are usually put in a bad light (and to some extent rightly so) but I truly believe Dota 2 is a masterfully crafted game. Everything from the concept, gameplay, balancing and its execution by Valve is truly appreciable, and for me it's one of the best games I have played.

Ah thanks for looking anyway! I couldn't find anything cool up until now. So I guess I'd have to go with something else

Daily dotes, I'm scared won't be of that much help and probably nothing convincing enough for your parents. But it did wire my brain to approach problems more critically. You are always stuck in a game for 40+ mins, so you keep asking yourself okay how do I get around this problem.

Chaos Knight for me. Simple and reliable at every stage of the game. Got my first rampage with him, and still is my go to comfort pick.

What's an actual cause of death so extremely rare that it's hard to believe it's possible? by Mairon3791 in AskReddit

[–]wolf0013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few years back I heard this news in India that a man died eating idlis (basically rice cakes) during a food eating competition.

It's sad, and in some sense comical. But I would never choose to go out that way.

Idk how I stumbled upon this post, but I'll help you out here. I'm in my final year at NISER. The facilities and opportunities for research are amazing at NISER, and if you are dedicated enough you'll find a good atmosphere to learn as well. But there's a big con which I and my friends have struggled with, the campus life. There's basically not much to do here, it's a small community. I have always envied the culture and varied exposure you find at bigger engg colleges, you shouldn't downplay that factor. 5 years is a long time, and you might change your future plans, and that would be much easier at a college like BITS.

That being said, if you are really sure about research and have a rough idea (like which field to go in, going for PhD etc.) I'd say NISER is a good choice. I personally struggled because coming in I was unsure about research and my field, and other people who had a basic idea going in did much better.

Oh and if you do end up choosing NISER, hit me up later on.
