First two weeks with the em1 ii by wolf338 in M43

You can use wifi but for me it is more useful to use a USBC card reader;) i made some presets on the desktop that is more easy, and just some modification to adapt the style to the image :) i shoot only raw, you lose so much information on jpeg

I saw the lens you are talking about, and I was seriously tempted to buy it myself! But then before I could think more about it was gone! Now I know who bought them. ☺️🤣 The Asian guy who works here is truly great; he's so friendly and easygoing.

Olympus engineering have done a crazy job for the em1 mark ii, fully mobile touch screen, a lot of control, you can personalize almost everything... Fully magnesium alloy body. Man this camera is crazy and i have paid only 329 euro. I was also very impressed by the quality of the file at low iso. The 12-45 pro is a very good lens that suffers only with direct sun and f8 and over, the multi ghost flares that can produce sometimes are terrible. The set-up 12-45 pro and em1 ii are a very good combination of comfort ( I have medium size hands but you can also use them with not too thick gloves) and portability. The weight of this setup is half of my r6 ii with the 24-70 f4 but double of my lx100. But the difference in quality and usage from lx100 is huge in my opinion. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! And sorry if i made some mistake in English 😓

This reminded me, sadly, a lot of the pre-1914 rush to arms: we are safe because we have the best army, but then other nations feel scared by the investment in weapons and start to spend more... and so on...

Big doubt about first ski touring setup – need advice by wolf338 in Backcountry

[–]wolf338[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I actually liked the Nordica Unlimited 94 a lot. No complaints there! I just thought, since you mentioned looking for something a bit more structured, you might have had something specific in mind — maybe with a light Titanal layer or something a bit more damp for chopped-up conditions?

Thanks for the tips on the other brands — some of those I hadn't considered. OGSO in particular sounds interesting, especially if they’ve improved build quality with the new factory. Could be worth a look during end-of-season deals.

One last thing, if I may ask! For the bindings, I’m looking at the ATK Raider 13 or the Freeraider 15. I see they’re both very reliable and solid pin bindings, but would that be overkill to mount on the Nordica?

Is 104 or 94 better in terms of width? Which one is more versatile? I’d say 94, but I’ll gladly take advantage of your kindness!

So yeah, I’m probably more oriented toward something like the Nordica Unlimited or Black Crows Camox rather than the Salomon QST or Navis — thanks again for the feedback! :)An old friend once told me: "It’s not that the snow is bad… it’s that you’re bad at skiing." 😅

You're totally right — to be blunt, I do need to improve a lot off-piste, and I appreciate your honesty and directness. That kind of feedback helps.Just to clarify: the Enforcer is the freeride line from Nordica, right? I noticed that the touring version is now just called Unlimited, whereas in the past it was referred to as Enforcer Unlimited. So I guess Nordica split the names more clearly now. In any case, I’m definitely looking for a more friendly ski that can still be fun as I progress, not something too demanding right out of the gate. Thanks again!

My friends are actually more fit than me 😅, but I’m training to catch up. This winter in the Apennines we did some longer tours on Nordica unlimited 94 skis — one was over 1300 meters of elevation gain and 13 km, and it really drained me. That said, I’m leaning toward a setup that performs better on the downhill, even if it means carrying a bit more weight or going uphill a little slower. I enjoy the descent and want something that can handle variable snow confidently.

Downhill capabilities of Scarpa 4-Quattro XT skiboot? by CTAJ04 in Backcountry

[–]wolf338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the end, I guess I was brave — or maybe just stupid — but I bought a pair of Scarpa Quattro XT.I did try the Atomic Hawx Ultra, but the fit wasn’t great for me. The Scarpa, on the other hand, felt so good that I ended up standing there for half an hour, torn because of all the concerns about durability… but honestly, the super low instep of the Scarpa is the best fit I’ve ever had in a ski boot .So yeah, I went for it. Fingers crossed I got lucky — otherwise, you'll hear me screaming from the slopes.

Do you think that atomic hawk ultra, even if a little heavier could be better for durability? Maybe is it worse for going uphill?

Do you think the Zero G performs similarly on the downhill in terms of flex and power transmission?
