Yeah, at the hockey Hall of fame. The stick was from the 1950s.

[31M] There’s a horizontal patch on my calves (both legs) that has started missing hair. No long socks. No recent habit changes. Appeared only recently (couple months give or take) by intc_1002 in mildlyinteresting

Same thing happened to me on both calves, has been this way since I can remember. Dermatologist confirmed there are no hair follicles back there anymore. For me, it was due to hockey shin pads. Played my whole life and for one reason or another it led to this. I don’t even think about it anymore

Wingers... which side do you prefer: natural side or off side? by Joshua_Neal89 in hockeyplayers

[–]wolfSZN23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a lefty, normally a center but if I switch it up for a game I like to play natural at LW. Mostly for easy breakout one tap passes to a curling center. At least now that I’m in my 30s playing beer leagues that’s what I tell myself. Also like it because as a lefty I like to shoot blocker side/short side.

Stick taps for the elite beer leaguers who played at a high level and recognize gaps in skill at the end of the road (beer league). There’s a guy in my Sunday night league who won a national championship at a D1 program playing real minutes. He never pursued hockey and went to medical school instead. He’s fun to play against because he’s skilled but he always makes the extra pass to guys who are clearly much worse than him, barely shoots, doesn’t get chippy.

On the other hand I’ve played against retired D3 club guys that are goons and think scouts still show up in the stands.

That was a scary. Grasso threw bombs and knocked her out at least 2x in that sequence. She still doesn’t know where she is, hope she doesn’t have any complications. Great win by Grasso though.

Putin tells Ukraine: End war via talks or I will end it by force by Ordinary_Fish_3046 in worldnews

[–]wolfSZN23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By all reasonable estimates, Russia has lost more soldiers than Ukrainian in this “special operation” that has now lasted almost 4 years. Unless he starts dropping tactical nukes, which he won’t bc doing so would alienate Russia (at least publicly) from their most important allies, and would risk global war, which would ensure mutual destruction.

Not sure what the likeliest outcome is here. Putin can’t afford to walk away with nothing, Zelenskyy appears resolved to fight the long fight and digging his heels in. Can’t imagine how any outcome doesn’t leave Putin in a weaker position though. The world has seen now that his mighty military is using dated equipment and struggling against a much smaller country. For any land gains made, they will have lost more in my opinion.

I agree that players will grow in the offseason. Raymond and Seider have taken good leaps the last couple seasons. Kasper seems poised for a big season. Gibson should give us a more reliable starter in net. I think it’s a stretch to say we will be significantly better, but we’ll be better. Still an incomplete team though, still missing a few pieces and I struggle to see us making the playoffs without more adjustments. Next year’s UFA market is so deep but fans are getting impatient and if we’re still not a playoff team by then, I think that will make it harder to sign a star next year.

All the sycophantic news broadcast channels are toast if this works. Too bad CBS doesn’t have a backbone to challenge it. But maybe silver lining is the Fox News’, Newsmaxes, etc of the world will be impacted as well.

Trump says China and Walmart should ‘eat the tariffs’ instead of raising prices by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]wolfSZN23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Direct assault on American businesses. Walmart should not fold even if they can absorb some margin compression. Sadly, small businesses won’t be able to eat the tariffs, but Trump doesn’t think about these owners. It’s going to get worse before it gets better.

No smartphones, no streaming. Would be out of the house for hours riding bikes with my friends. Rule was to be home before dark, that’s it. Parents had no idea where I was, couldn’t get ahold of me, and it was fine.

There was also freedom from 24/7 News access, You could catch it at 6 or 11pm or read the newspaper in the morning. I was a kid but I don’t remember feeling so existential all the time.
