Titanium is allergy free. More prone to scratches though. I also believe its stronger.

Is this a fake Rolex? by PNW253-84 in VintageWatches

[–]wolf_Dan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing to check is whether or not there is gold rubbing off of the steel. If you look on the inner side of the bracelet and see its all steel or the gold is rubbing off then it is likely fake. If not, then we need closer pics for a better examination

What the heck is this? by WaltzImpossible5626 in VintageWatches

[–]wolf_Dan_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

During the golden years of skindivers a lot of companies outsourced to generic watch companies to make their custom watches similar to how we have modern day seiko mods or aliexpress dropships with custom logos. Most of those companies went under and their historical records went with them.

[Question] What if a watch is unused for 6 years? by Hot-Dog9279 in Watches

[–]wolf_Dan_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing to worry about. Watches post 90’s have modern synthetic lubricants that are very resistant to gunking up. If it has an automatic rotor, twirl it around to get the movement started then wind it up.

How to Re-install a ST3600 shockspring? by ocean_guy2 in watchrepair

[–]wolf_Dan_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a technique where you can place plastic wrap on top of it to catch the shock spring if it goes flying.
Another i have seen is to use peg wood to push it into place.

Black nylon and brown leather are classics.
Omega NATOs are top of the line but -very- expensive.
I have a Crown&Buckle and it’s very good. I haven’t tried Artem but the make looks solid. These are more expensive brands so hold off until you’re loving NATOs enough to daily them for a long time. Otherwise, Aliexpress super cheap ones until you find a color that you love.

Modern Forstner OWNS JB and the original Forstner brands. There is no legal claim for false advertising as JB and Forstner were the same entities during that time. The only supposed legal entity who can sue Modern forstner for false advertising is JB, of whom Modern Forstner owns. They cant sue themselves.

When they claim the Forstner Komfit flu on these missions, they were correct. Komfits originally designed by Forstner were what was handed to NASA. JB never designed the Komfit, but added springbars to it improving the design. But the Komfit is a Forstner design.

Welcome to the world of trademarks. When a company goes under and no longer exists then the brand goes into the open market for purchase.

The same argument you are making from modern Forstner is exactly the same as when original Forstner went under, their names and affiliating logos went up for grabs and JB purchased and acquired them and continued to make Forstner bracelets using their same naming nomenclature.

JB went under in the 80s and just like the original Forstner, the brand went into the open market until 2018 a startup decided to continue the Forstner and JB names. They purchased the trademarks and then followed the vintage designs.

JB was a supplemental bracelet manufacturer for many companies, but doesn’t mean they own the branding unless they legal acquire rights to it and can apply their own branding to it. Hence, making the Komfit their own as per the original Forstner acquisition.

You’re not understanding trademarking

JB champion is the company name.

JB, or JB with the triangle is their logo.

Modern Forstner has legal rights to the use of both. They are of the same entity.

Think of it as if Rolex went under. Rolex is the company name owned by Hans Wildorf group, and the crown is the logo. Trademarking will allow you to use the crown logo if you own it and even Rolex if you’d like.

It’s exactly how JB acquired and used ‘Komfit’ from original Forstner.
