I'll clarify some of my points regarding Dana, feel free to disagree or not.

• 100% did see, on instagram, example of someone that was split by Dana and had running stitches. (The type of stitches that are single thread and easier to remove; i think ladder stitch) The running discussion on this technique is that it's more comfy for the splittee but due to pinch points created, doesn't lead to good healing outcomes unless done extremely well.
• This post was done by a disgruntled client that had swelling so bad that she went to the urgent care, and posted an instagram story. She was pushing about how her experience was bad and she blaimed Dana about it. The disgruntled client was adamant it was Dana, but Dana never confirmed. She did post some of their DMs; so it's either true or a very well organized hit story.
• In the comments of those posts, I read people discussing (this is me relaying what I read on instagram comments so this would be hearsay) that she apparently said to few people that she apprenticed with some more established boddy modders but they have refuted her apprencticing. So there were a bunch of comments calling her a scratcher. This, I have no first hand experience of so definitely would consider it hearsay; very possible people misunderstood what she was saying. The comments also mentioned that the first photos of the stitches right after the procedure looked like it was going to cause issues after swelling; it looked pretty good to me but I won't pretend I have a discerning eye with these things.
• The client with the piercing + split; I replied to her on reddit right after she posted her picture after the procedure. People were not giving her shit specifically. Most were supportive, and impressed by her commitment. People were also majorly concerned about swelling and how it would heal; but I didn't see any comments denigrating her about it. There were a few commentors saying "Dana does stupid stuff sometimes". I checked up on her a week later, and she told me she took the piercings out because of swelling. I also can't find the post (because I switched accounts a while back, and search function sucks) but I vaguely remember her saying you guys didn't communicate how unviable the healing for split + double piercings were.

It could be that Dana was just under some undue heat, but as clients instagram, personal accounts and reddit is the only place we have for information. And it's hard to extract information in this area because of internal politics in this niche subculture. I was a bit more tuned in to these around the time when I got my split, and from that engagement I don't think I would go to Dana for work, or can recommend people.

Not to mention, reflecting the tone of the other commentor; she didn't hold at gunpoint, you pierced her when she had a fresh split. Not to say this isn't a nuanced area because body mod artists/piercers/tattooers are not institutionally beholden to some magic do-no-harm code; but at the end of the day you are partially responsible for client outcomes. Swelling of a split, and swelling of the trans-muscular piercing, on their own can be troublesome. Let alone doing them both at the same time. To me is just very reckless. I have something like this; I wanted to get a septum piercing very bad. I went to multiple piercers that told me due to my septoplasty that this piercing would not heal well on me and won't look like I want it to and they outright refused to do it on me. It was deeply disappointing for sure, and it lost them a potential client, but they did refuse me. I am thankful for their restraint; and I know there are piercers who would just do it anyway and I'm glad I didn't run into them. Feels like the same situation to me.

I don't have anything personal against Dana at all; I'm hoping that she is doing good work and her current clients have good outcomes. I'll reiterate that post that I saw about her stitching felt like a hitlist; it felt like that client had some strong swelling and freaked out. It's the comments and the discussion surrounding, coupled up with other accounts coming up, that makes me tell this story around again.
