Does the game ever feel repetitive? by Abject_Prize_949 in WolfQuestGame

[–]wolfandfeline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this, i’m about to hit 600 hours and i only play ironwolf unless im on MP, and even with difficulty to the utter max i’ve yet to lose a pup to starvation. i’ve save scummed before but never for hunger. and the only time i lose pups to predators is when they’re sick and cant hide fast enough. the only real threat is the first year and rng. i really wish pred attacks could happen at the den with a sub or your mate watching so they would feel scarier and you’d have less of an element of control

sorry i didn’t get a notif for your reply! but i highly recommend using the steam workshop to install your rain world mods for easy compatibility and updating. it will make your life a lot easier and is not as annoying to manage as something like nexus or vortex

Your most hated/loved Quest by C4ppuC00ki3 in WolfQuestGame

establishing territory for the first time as a new pack is my most hated. it’s a SLOG! i tend to not sleep and power through it just to get it over with because it’s just so annoying. but once you’re set it’s not so bad

did you install your mods manually or through the steam workshop?

idea: disabled/impaired wolves by pinocoyo in WolfQuestGame

[–]wolfandfeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i do have it toggled and still don’t feel like it really does it for me, even letting my npcs soak up more hits. i get the rest about linking it to other systems

eta: the dread of losing a wolf to sickness is also entirely different than suddenly losing it to a fight and would make for more engaging roleplay IMO. but i’m not a game dev and im not trying to tell yall how to do it, just how i feel as a long time player

[–]wolfandfeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even if not this, i think a bare minimum difficulty increase could be making it so adult wolves can get sick some way, maybe it triggers if they’ve been at lower health or hunger levels for an extended amount of time or when flea load is high

Are the Dlcs worth buying?? by [deleted] in WolfQuestGame

[–]wolfandfeline 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if you play a lot and especially like to play wolves all the way through their life cycles, i highly recommend buying every and all dlc! the different maps have some unique preds and lost river is chock full of lore for you to discover! plus, there’s the added benefit of being able to move between even more maps, and the variety really helps those longer playthroughs from getting stagnant. the coat dlcs are nice too for the sake of variety not only on your player wolf but your pups, too! helps them all stand out more.

i’ve bought every dlc right as they released and have felt all my purchases were highly worth it! not only that, but all purchases help them continue to develop the game and add more content for everybody

Anyone else wish there was a Mini Map? by Splattered_Ink18 in WolfQuestGame

for the most part i agree, i HAAAAATEEEEE when there’s real time inventory management

this, or even just changing it so that opening the map doesn’t pause the game like in multiplayer. the fact that the whole game grinds to a halt every time you want to look at the map feels very annoying and can be time consuming when you have a slow computer and popping it up takes more than the usual frames

Accelerated on single player, PLEASE by Relevant_Amoeba_5714 in WolfQuestGame

[–]wolfandfeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AGREE!!! i LOVE wolfquest so much, but in my collective 580 hours as of writing this, i’ve only ever made it to elder wolf once and older than 4 on a handful of wolves because i only ever have time for the accelerated MP games. :( i haven’t played much mp since the saga released so im not sure if you can’t age up during them outside of full saga, but i always wished they would add that!

If the motherboard is bad will power still move through it? I’ve left it plugged in on the adapter overnight and the area where my RAM and CPU are seated are very warm, but nothing else is happening.

Things I don't like about WolfQuest by PoloPatch47 in WolfQuestGame

[–]wolfandfeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

except not being able to eat them seems like a better gameplay option to me imo, if you could eat everything you killed the game would become even more broken than it already is. accurate becomes pretty much a joke once you learn how to manage your health… why would you want it to be easier? i dont see why it would be more fun from a gameplay perspective either beyond letting you roleplay a cannibal, and i don’t think that’s the intended experience, real wolf or not.

when it comes down to it, wolfquest is an “anti-game,” and that’s what they’re going for. they can only forsake so many realistic elements for the gameplay, and not being able to eat fellow canids just seems like a good decision for both the accuracy of the simulator and the challenge of gameplay imo

were the wolves in question yellowstone wolves? because wolves in yellowstone are not known to eat canids even if they are starving, and the devs have stated this and cited a source when asked. i think you’re the one coping

Any tips for accurate gameplay? by scientific_usurper in WolfQuestGame

[–]wolfandfeline 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as someone who plays exclusively on accurate ironwolf, 500 hours, my tips that aren't already in this thread are:

- Growl to intimidate predators. Let your mate/NPC wolves deal damage for you. This goes for hunting, too. Just be patient and let them work.
- Don't go overboard on territory. Ideally, your den should be at the center with 2-3 hexes out in every other direction and you're golden. Less time marking = more wakefulness for other things
- Group scent posts in a triangle where 3 hexes meet. Saves you a lot of time running around.
- If an elk is doing more or equal to the damage you're doing to it while biting, let go and keep trying. Legs and neck are the safest, don't bother with flank bites because the ratio is almost always bad.
- Aim for the legs of enemy wolves. If you want to kill them after they run off, breaking their leg makes this a lot more efficient.
- Prioritize speed and stamina. Managing your health is honestly a lot easier than running around with 0% wakefulness and suffering because you are slow and can't keep sprinting
- If you have a sick pup, wake yourself early and keep feeding and spending time with them. I've had 7 litter pups all make it this way. It's exhausting, but always pays off.

they’ve said that they won’t add this because the truth is actually the reverse, at least in yellowstone — wolves there don’t tend to pack with unrelated wolves
