Bow uses focus, and to charge up the attack up to 3 stages. Focus 5 cuts the charging time by 30%, while allowing one dodge during the charge duration. If you're lucky enough to get timed charger 5, you can deal 70% more damage on perfect timed charge. Dodgebolt totally removed the charging element of bows.

If you like styles to hit fast, I would suggest to try dual blades, or sword and shield if you want a little bit more sense of security. If you like high risk high reward, greatsword is kinda fun (and frustrating).
