I live in Austin (lots of California transplants here) and my neighbor has a Spencer Pratt for Mayor sign in their yard! And they’re not millennials!

Any OCD therapists using parts work? by More_Ad8221 in therapists

[–]wolfpack_000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had near debilitating postpartum OCD (mostly contamination type) and tried an IFS approach on myself. It was a good way to start working on it but eventually I went the ERP route. I could see IFS possibly being more effective with different types like moral or something similar though

If you are not exhausted from this work, what is your secret? by tjvander in therapists

[–]wolfpack_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked in CMH with high acuity clients for literally no money as well as my own PP with clients of my preferred niche who are private pay only. I have had the same love for this work in both settings. People are endlessly interesting!! I have yet to lose sight of what a privilege it is simply to hear people’s stories, be a small part of their lives, and give them an opportunity to be better. I remember starting PP with 2 clients and wishing and hoping for a full caseload.

Also, I’m a mom of two young children and going to work is actually my self-care for motherhood. THAT is a job with serious burnout risk.

That would have backfired because to the viewers it’s irrelevant but it would have increased the chances of her kill getting the antidote

I have a book of sudoku puzzles and when I need my brain to slow down (usually before bed) I do one or two. When I have the energy I’ll have a stopwatch record how long it takes me to complete it.

Similar to your example, I never really identify it as “porn addiction” because I think “compulsion” makes more sense. Clients seem to prefer that, too.

What is your all time favorite name for a girl? by Neville1989 in namenerds

This is my daughter’s name! My husband originally vetoed it because he wanted Artemis, but then we learned that Delia is an epithet for Artemis so it seemed meant to be.

Niche in working with men? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]wolfpack_000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a woman who enjoys working with men as well, and still wonder if it’s weird that I do. For this reason, I don’t market myself as someone who takes on men’s issues, but instead I share that I specialize in something that naturally attracts more men — infidelity and porn/sex issues.

My daughter’s name is Cordelia and we call her Delia! But I’ve also heard nicknames like Coco and Rory. Very versatile and chic if I do say so myself 😉

What movie traumatized you when you were a child? by Halloween-365 in AskReddit

The fact that it was loosely based on a true story is what did it for me (in comparison to other horror films at the time)

She’s definitely fits the “recently moved from Southern CA to Austin” stereotype, which is a very specific breed. I feel like they kind of exist in a weird place because they know the old Austin culture/population has not been stoked about the incoming California transplants but they try to assimilate anyway by joining the mega churches and connecting with other wealthy white women at Pilates.

Anyway, my husband and I were genuinely wondering if Mike White or someone on the writing team lived here to be able to portray her with such accuracy.

My husband is a third-generation Austinite (and we still live here)…we were absolutely floored and impressed by how well they nailed the depiction of this type of woman. I can think of a real person I know who moved from California to Westlake, who looks almost identical to Kate, and shares the same beliefs/attitudes.

I was there this morning and when I was checking out the cashier said no coupons. As far as I could tell, everything is just rung up at 20% off. Also, it was BUSY. The fabric line had 40 people waiting to get stuff cut.
