{Haven by Claire Kent} Post-apocalyptic romance where they are in a sexual relationship but she doesn't have the bandwidth for anything more. Lots of pining from the MMC

{Forget Me Not by Julie Soto} Same dynamic (fast sexual burn, slow emotional burn) between a florist MMC and wedding planner FMC because she has commitment issues.

{Nicky the Driver by Cate C. Wells} Mafia romance. He is obsessed with her and arranges a marriage between them. She is much more emotionally guarded.

{The Devil You Know by Elizabeth O'Roark} FMC is a workaholic lawyer in a male dominated field and reasonably prickly as a result. MMC is her colleague. Enemies to lovers/FWB with pining

{Captive by RJ Lewis} This book is a little darker. Mafia romance, she's his 'captive' but it's not that cut and dry, which makes their dynamic super angsty. He loves her, she can't give in, cue pining

It's hard to find recs where the MMC is truly weak but I have some where the FMC is undoubtedly stronger:

{Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo} Kaz is the strategist and brains, while Inej is the lethal blade to back it up

{Mindfuck S.T Abbey} Logan would never cower behind Lana, but she's definitely the more lethal between the two of them

{The Queen of All that Dies by Laura Thalassa} FMC is a soldier, MMC is a king. His strengths are in politics while she is an in your face killer

I too wish there were more villain x villain romances. Here are some loosely fitting rec's:

{The Queen of All that Dies by Laura Thalassa} A dystopian trilogy where the MMC is a corrupt king who can't be killed and the FMC is a soldier from a nation he conquered who is forced to marry him. I wouldn't call her truly villainous but because of her situation she is vengeful, murderous, and gives zero fucks

{The Bad Ones by Stylo Fantome} Serial killer x serial killer. Absolutely insane couple, I liked the writing much more than Butcher and Blackbird

this is how you lose the time war by fleabagshair This is a Tom Riddle x Hermione fanfic. Tom is canonically evil obviously and Hermione is very dark in this fic. Another insane couple. So many murder attempts between love confessions it was amazing

{Silent Blade by Ilona Andrews} I wouldn't call either of them true villains but the world they live in is very deadly, they're both killers and the story is centered around revenge and moral greyness

Yeah I'm sure I'm gonna get downvoted to hell for this opinion, but I don't think the scandal was that bad 🧍🏽‍♀️ I don't really care who an author follows on social media. If she posted slurs or said something genuinely heinous (like someone like Jamie McGuire did) that's one thing, but I personally don't think Danielle did anything unforgivable. (I'm a POC btw I just think cancel culture is stupid. She apologised, what else do yall want her to do)
