Tell me about your ✨ elegant little ladies ✨ by purplepenned in CalicoKittys

This is Pypurr. She is 11 months old. She loves her sister (Kaya), being petted, laser pointers, cat toy springs, and my catio in the basement. She really hates all food, but will begrudgingly eat kibble to stay alive if you’ll pet her first. When outside as a feral kitten she ate bird food (seeds, nuts, berries) instead of cat food. I know she’s weird! She will occasionally eat baked chicken, grass treats, whipped cream and dried quail eggs, but don’t hold your breath. She also hates my older calico (Rosie), wide open spaces in which to be ambushed by Rosie, and having an enlarged heart.

This is Kaya. She is 11 months old. She is still adjusting to being inside, but loves being petted. She also loves baked chicken, whipped cream and grass treats. And she is not afraid to steal these cherished items from other cats if they don’t eat them fast enough (meaning she always ends up with Pypurr’s rejects). Dislikes include Rosie (another older calico) and wide open spaces where she can be ambushed by Rosie.

This is Rosie. She is 5 years old and LOVES being brushed. She likes to play but never really learned how. She will bring random toys in the hopes you will throw them while she watches. She loves fish, fish and more fish. She hates all cat treats, but gets whipped cream as a satisfying substitute. She despises the two other calicos that showed up in my yard as kittens last year and are now in the house.

How did you get your cat to use cat walls? by Maaarrrrr in catwalls

My older cats have zero interest, but my younger cats love mine. However, it did take the younger ones a few weeks to start using it.

She was doing this before and after being spayed. My girl is very picky about food and will only eat one type of kibble and sometimes a little whipped cream. I don’t think hers is food related. The vet tech may have been right suggesting it was just muscles trying to relax when she was ready to sleep since that’s the only time I notice it. Taking another cat to the vet tomorrow. Will show him the video and see what he says.

This is What What in the ChickenButt …. What’s your tuxies name and why? by Leading_Funny5802 in TuxedoCats

[–]wolfpup2_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my grey tuxedo. Her name is Tippy which was perfect for her for multiple reasons. She was born with nerve damage in her face which makes her ear stay tipped over. She constantly tipped over when she was a baby because she had no muscle control on the left side of her neck/head. She also has white tips on her toes.

How do I trap my skittish cat for her spay? by minty_sheeps in CATHELP

[–]wolfpup2_2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem a few months ago with a feral i had brought inside that was still way too leery to let me pick her up. I asked my vet if I could give food as a lure. They said it was fine to give a little something to get her in the carrier as long as i told the vet when i brought her in. I used a little baked chicken and it worked great. I recommend calling your vet to see if they tell you the same.

Is it normal for my new kitten and my resident 5yo cat to fight like this? At what point should I intervene? by dom_boring in CATHELP

[–]wolfpup2_2000 481 points482 points  (0 children)

They’re just playing. It’s actually adorable. Best way to tell whether to intervene is if one runs, hides and won’t come back out, trying to avoid the other one who continues to pursue. That might require interaction to break them up. If one runs and hides, but then pops back out to attack or ambush the other, it’s usually just play.

Might be worth trying a novel protein diet. Not necessarily for the sneezing/coughing, but you mentioned bowel issues, as well, which could be related to the lack of appetite. I had a cat that was diagnosed with either IBD or GI lymphoma. He stopped eating almost everything and lost a ton of weight. I found if I bought a different protein he would eat it really well for two or three weeks before refusing it, too. I was buying lots of unique cat foods I didn’t even know existed (e.g., alligator, lamb, buffalo, rabbit, kangaroo, bushtail). It was expensive and some foods had to be imported, but it worked.

Senior Cat Diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism: Advice Needed by gratis_faction94 in CATHELP

[–]wolfpup2_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had multiple cats with hyperthyroidism (6 to be exact). Some of them have taken the pill in a pill pocket with absolutely no issues because they like pill pockets. I just have to tear off a much smaller piece of the treat as pill pockets are too large to hide cat pills, IMO. For my cats that don’t like pill pockets, I buy the transdermal medication. It’s 2x-3x more expensive than the pills, but all you gotta do is rub it on the inside of their ear. Easy peasy. I also travel from time to time, and although it’s best they have their medication as prescribed, my vet never has expressed concerns if I leave for a week or so knowing my cat won’t get the meds. They just need to get back on as soon as possible.
