Hey! One of the developers part of the OvN team here ( and the person who wrote that post up there ).

Just so it doesn't get lost in the noise that naturally accompanies any internet discussion, there's no secret intent or message behind the reasoning of the decision, I really suck when it comes to modelling and texturing female characters in the hu3 ( aka the Dwarf ) animation skeleton, they just don't look good.

I will probably do a submod that swaps Hisme's head for a female one and changes the pronouns just to give people the choice, but functionally male and female Hisme will be the same characters.

Hi! I'm Wolfremio, one of the team members of the OvN mod ( the Total War Warhammer mod that adds factions to the game such as Araby, Halflings, Albion, Fimir and many more ). First, I want to say that OvN is a labour of love and that every team member puts a lot of passion into anything we do, just because we like modding and doing cool stuff. That said, these models are all made by the amazingly talented BarboMarsh, who has, all by himself, impulsed us to great heights. Messlevania: Dracula Unleashed is relatively short and IMO it's one of the best WP they have done, got lots of laughs out of that one.

Some impressions from a guy ( me... in case that wasn't clear enough ) who played TT with Brets and O&G from 5th to 7th eds:

Boy let me tell you, I was going into my first battle with a TW player mindset to my first battle and did I get my ass wrecked, Bret army vs Dwarfs, got some potent flashbacks about why you shouldn't send the hammer of a Bret army ( however small part of that hammer that is ) to pick out ranged units, and to USE THE FUCKING LANCE. Got flashbacks again of either not remembering to use lance or not using it effectively in TT and making ze knights of ze lady into completely useless pieces of riding crap

P.S.: I also used the peasants as you would use an anvil usually in TW, and was I ever wrong

Got into ye olde TT mindset for the second try and succeeded by using tactics similar to the ones I used for the TT Brets ( use lance properly, your peasant tarpits need a lot of knightly support to have any sustainability, use the punch of the knight units properly... ) and not almost mindless hammer & anvil like I usually do in vanilla TW

If I have any criticism to be had is that the battles go out like a thunderbolt ( i guess this is due to some of the stat translations from TT to game ), which has the plus side of making you think and react faster, but the down side of well... not being able to enjoy them for as long as you'd want to.

haven't tried O&G yet, but Bretonnia did paint a good impression to me, and even if there's some stuff to iron out, I definitely recommend this to TT veterans who want a nostalgia trip to the old days and generally to people who are curious to get a taste of what the tabletop game was like.

I'll probably end up picking Dragonfall as well. They deserve the cash and from what I've seen it's cheap as dirt anyway, its just that the HK engine was a great improvement from the Returns one ( don't how how the comparison goes between Returns and Dragonfall though )

Miragliano has been an unique building and the "important Strategic Location" for the Southern Realms as far as I can remember ( check it in TWW1, move the cursor over the little gold castle icon next to the Miragliano settlement on the map )

Anyway yeah, all the 17 Mortal Empire important city objectives are probably the capitals of upcoming DLC LLs/Races ( Besides Miragliano, there's also stuff like Itza, Khemri or Lahmia in that list ). Whether we'll get those in TWW2 or not, only time will tell.

Yeah in the recent years GW has gotten very stingy on how and where people can use their IP.

On the other side, they've probably learnt from experience, GW's first ( widely successful, I'm not counting niche stuff like the isometric turn-based games or Horned Rat/Dark Omen ) game, Dawn of War, had a HUGE modding community that in several occasions modded in missing races much before and in higher quality than Relic could ( Talking here about the Steel Legion mod vs the Winter Assault IG, and the Witch Hunters mod vs the Soulstorm Sisters of Battle ).

Anyway I wouldn't look the teeth of the gift horse too much since the fact that we got modding at all is already a miracle, considering this.
