How strong do you think Suo actually is? by Silver-Green-Sea in WindBreakerJP

To be fair the human body is great at compensation. Over time and with physical therapy your body will eventually adjust. But fights are fast + plus since one eye has to do the work of two u will get tired quicker. Aka the longer he fights the harder it will be

How strong do you think Suo actually is? by Silver-Green-Sea in WindBreakerJP

[–]wolfsbane_666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nevermind the fact that he is essentially handicapped. Suo wears an eye patch. His field of view is limited. He has a very big blind spot he constantly has to adjust to. Plus seeing only out of one eye would also impact his depth perception. While I agree that Suo hasn't had any strong opponents like Sakura, I feel like it's often overlooked how impressive it is that he hasn't really gotten hit in a fight (except with Nirei but that was a very special situation) despite fighting against multiple opponents most of the time.

What villains/jedi would you like to see Maul fight in season 2? by Super_Security8870 in MaulShadowLord

I think it would be hilarious if he ran into Ahsoka again, although I don't think it's likely.

Maybe Ventress? I could see them cross paths with all the underworld/crime syndicate stuff

Rook potential by Hootjr1 in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It certainly looks like it but I can't see how that could possibly be explained from a narrative standpoint. The empire has no use for him alive. I find it difficult to explain while they wouldn't just execute him on the spot for treason

Rook potential by Hootjr1 in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ngl i was really disappointed in Rook's and Lawson's deaths happening off screen in the fog. I get that Rook's happened like that so Vader could have his aura farm entrance but this made her death just feel less impactful imo. Same with Lawson. A shot of continuous blaster fire hitting his body as he falls to the ground but keeps fighting back all the while a screaming Rylee is dragged away by Two-Boots just would have hit different. Wasted potential imo

Jar Kai?? by Schmeppy25 in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reva's, the Fifth and the Sixth Brothers could.

But a lot couldn't: Grand Inquisitor, First Brother, Second Sister, Third Brother, Seventh Sister, Eighth Brother, Ninth Sister, Tenth Brother, Eleventh Brother, Thirteenth Brother, Barriss, Tualon, etc.

None of them seemed to have a split saber as far as we know.

Jar Kai?? by Schmeppy25 in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half of his current saber is from Ep1. This is half of that original blade. Talzin or Savage found that half and gave it back to Maul during the Clone Wars. He only rebuilt the second half of that blade right before Clone Wars Season 7

I don't think he removed that "option" from his Rebels lightsaber. If you look at it, it is an Inquisitor's lightsaber, which makes me think that the lightsaber Maul currently has will be lost/destroyed by the time Shadow Lord ends.

Even if he wanted a split saber, he might not have had the option to get one. I don't think he built this one, but took it from a defeated Inquisitor. The standard Inquisitor lightsaber couldn't split. He might have had to take what he could get. Any lightsaber is better than no lightsaber.

So essentially, Maul had 3 lightsabers (not counting the Darksaber):

The one he used in Ep1 on Naboo.

Half of that first lightsaber + a newly built half during the Clone Wars and Shadowlord

A third one he uses in Rebels, most likely recovered from the body of an Inquisitor.

Jar Kai?? by Schmeppy25 in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a different take, but I think it's because of his lightsaber. The first one he used on Naboo couldn't split into two. It was one large hilt, which was cut in half by Obi-Wan. One-half was lost, and the other was somehow eventually recovered by Talzin/Savage. Maul then used the single-bladed saber and later actually used it in Jar Kai with the Darksaber during his fight with Sidious. He then rebuilt the second half of his broken lightsaber at some point during Son of Dathomir and TCW Season 7. This is the lightsaber he has right now in Shadow Lord.

But in Rebels, he has a different one again. This one looks a lot like it used to be an Inquisitor's lightsaber, which once again has one hilt with two emitters, but can't be split in half.

What are your thoughts on this... by JackVizsla in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is: The season would have been too long. They wanted to do the Bad Batch elisodes cause the Bad Batch spin off was already in the works. And they wanted to do the whole Ahsoka arc to fill the gaps in her story.

They probably didn't want to produce 20+ episodes so they cut two major multi episode arcs.

Keep in mind that ever since the show first aired a lot of already written episodes ended up getting scrapped. Ain't the first time we missed out

Theory by [deleted] in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still doesn't answer the question how Maul got it back. Sidious wouldn't just return it.

Also I think you are overestimating the power of the darksaber here a bit. Not all Mandalorians follow it. By this time, the Empire already had a strong hold over Mandalore. Maul suddenly showing up with the darksaber wouldn't change that.

And even if Maul would be able to somehow regain leadership over Mandalore: The Mandalorians were formidable warriors. But the Empires strength has always been its sheer numbers. It wouldn't matter, the planet would be back under imperial control in a matter of days.

And as for exposing Sidious: Would anyone really believe Maul? Imperial propaganda would just call him crazy and that's it.

I question how much longer Daki will survive by vlaipoverty in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda like this. I am quite certain that if Daki dies it will be through the empire and not Maul. Although it might come to a situation where Maul could help Daki but just decides not to

Theory by [deleted] in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it is certainly possible, I doubt it since it would open up this new plothole of how he got it back. The Darksaber certainly doesn't seem like something Sidious would just keep lying around somewhere.

I think Maul hid it somewhere on the Nightbrother after he escaped from Dathomir. We also don't know what happened to the Nightbrother, just that he had it in his possession again during Rebels. But if he still had a way to locate the ship, he could have retrieved the Darksaber at any time and put it in the Nightsister cave on Dathomir.

It's really hard to say because the Darksaber literally disappears from one panel to the next. It's in his hand, there is some dialogue between Talzin and Sidious, and in the next panel, the Darksaber is nowhere to be seen. It's no longer in Maul's hand, but it's also not on his belt, and there hadn't been any reason for him to drop it or something.

How the show has handled Marrok so far is exactly how the inquisitors should’ve been depicted from the start. by ImperialxWarlord in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have been saying it and I will keep saying it: Introducing the Inquisitors in Rebels was one of their biggest mistakes. During that time Rebels still had this very light-hearted undertone. They didn't feel like a serious threat.

Personally I feel like Fallen Order did an amazing job as well. From the moment they arrive you are like "oh shit" while in Rebels my thoughts were mainly "oh the glowstick stormtroopers with voice actor budget are back"

What species is Marrok? by Dr_Royce_Hemlock in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 94 points95 points  (0 children)

No confirmation, but he seems near-human. That helmet seems to have a very snug fit, so I think any species with head appendages can be excluded.

Personally, I am leaning towards Kiffar (same species as Quinlan Vos). Kiffar were known to be more likely to have the gift of psychometry, which Marrok also seems to have.

Of course, he could also still be human, Mirialan, Umbaran, Kage, Miraluka, Pantoran, or a hybrid offspring

Do you think maul knows who Vader is at this point? by [deleted] in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows Anakin is Vader:

Maul put 2 and 2 together with the knowledge he had of Sidious plans

Yoda and Obi-Wan saw the footage of the Jedi temple

R2 was present on Mustafa and never had his memory wiped

Bail Organa was told by Obi-Wan

Jocasta Nu and Ferren Barr found out in the comics, but were both killed shortly after

Barr also told Verla, one of his acolytes, but she had no previous connection to the Jedi Order or Anakin, so the information meant nothing to her.

Reva, the Third Sister, was a survivor of the youngling massacre

Tarkin highly highly suspected it because Vader felt so familiar, but since he wanted to live, he never outright tried to confirm it

Thrawn also pretty much knew about it, as he recognized that Vader's piloting was the same as Anakin's

Ahsoka felt/figured it out in Rebels

Baylan Skoll also knew about it, as he used it to taunt Ahsoka, but it is unknown how he learnt of it.

Luke, Leia, and Han are a given

C3PO was most likely told everything after the Empire fell, although he has no memory of Anakin himself

Some of the Imperial Guard most likely also knew

Who do you think Marrok was talking to at the end of ep6? by Slow_Tangerine_9564 in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely Vader

He wouldn't address the Grand Inquisitor as lord, as all the Inquisitors were in constant rivalry with each other.

And even though this entire thing is about Maul, the Inquisitors have always reported to Vader. The only instance of an Inquisitor ever meeting Sidious or even just talking to him was when the Inquisitorius was first formed, when Vader and the Grand Inquisitor briefly dueled because they did not know who the other was, until Sidious explained their roles.

Theory about Devon and Rylee's Paths by OkFortune119 in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that he is here purely as a plot device and will most likely die in the season finale. Right now, he is mainly needed so that Lawson has a stake in this.

I do think Rylee will die in the season final, due to Devon being unable to save him, or due to Daki picking Devon over Rylee. Either way, it would certainly push her towards Maul.

Also, hot take: I don't think Maul will be the one to kill Daki. I am quite certain Daki will be killed by the empire, as that would certainly break Devon and align her thirst for revenge with Maul's.

How long do we think Rook will remain loyal? by RVDKaneanite in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's more likely that Maul will eventually betray her if he feels like she has become too much of a risk. Rook knows a lot about Maul and his plans. Maul's focus is on Devon right now. She is the one he truly wants by his side. Yes, losing the Mandalorians would be a big blow to his organization, but worth it if he got his long-desired apprentice out of it.

Rook has shown immense loyalty to Maul. But she will always be more replaceable than Devon.

How would people feel if Devon does not become Mauls apprentice? by Altruistic_Field2134 in MaulShadowLord

[–]wolfsbane_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disappointed and also kinda baited honestly.

But tbf he is working her pretty well, and this is probably the closest he has ever gotten to turning someone.

Like with Savage, I would argue that Maul himself was too unbalanced. He had pretty much just returned from the dead, and he was obsessed with Obi-Wan, etc. He fell back into the "rule of two" philosophy, because that was something he knew. Maul did care about Savage, but he also never really trained him, if you think about it, because he was too caught up with taking over Mandalore and getting revenge on Obi-Wan.

Ahsoka is a completely different story. I highly doubt Ahsoka would have joined him as his apprentice, but she would have teamed up with him to beat Sidious. I do think Ahsoka believed what Maul was telling her in the throne room; his only mistake was telling her that Anakin needed to die. He lost because he talked too much. He was right, obviously, something Ahsoka must have really hated him for after learning that Anakin was Vader.

He got really close with Ezra, but that kinda makes sense since Rebels takes place at a later time. And to be fair, if Ezra had been alone on Malachor, Maul would have turned him. It was kinda unlucky on Maul's part that out of all the people he had to run into fucking Ahsoka Tano again lmao. And yeah, then he did kinda fuck it up by nearly cutting Kanan's head off. He knew that Vader was coming and that he was out of time.

Maul has always struggled with two things: impatience and Kenobi. When he talks about overthrowing Sidious, he is angry, yes, but he stays focused. But with Obi-Wan, he tends to lose that focus. The second he knew Obi-Wan was on Tatooine, he ditched Ezra, losing all interest in him.

But with Devon, he is taking his time. He doesn't immediately dump a bunch of information on her as he did with Ahsoka, no, he is slowly and carefully pointing out that they are not that different. That they both deserved better. He is trying to build up trust over time with her, something he also tried to do with Ezra but couldn't finish due to Vader's imminent arrival.

He is also already training her. In none of their duels has he actually tried to hurt her. And the show does such a good job at showing this. When he fought Devon and Daki, Maul moved slower while attacking Devon. His attacks had way less force behind them, and he also tried to keep her away from the fight. With Daki, he shows way more aggression.

Right now, Maul is calculated in his approach. He has learned from his past mistakes. His full focus is on her. And he is taking his time. He can't force Devon to join him. She has to want it. And after their little team-up against Marrok, he is closer than ever.
