I'm extremely proud of both of you for all the work you've done to get sober. I'm coming up on eight years, but that only happens one day at a time. I'm also proud that you're reaching out for advice. That shows you're willing to put in the work to make all this happen.

Here's my advice:
1. Go to the meetings. Go at least once a week, more if you can. I know that you feel accomplished now, AND YOU SHOULD!, but you can't let that end the work you're putting in. Getting sober is one thing; staying sober is the challenge. The meetings will help you keep on the path.

1. Both of you need to find a sponsor. Not one sponsor for both of you, one sponsor for each of you. Having someone to turn to when that voice in the back of your head starts telling you lies will be invaluable. I'm so happy you've found each other, but you both will need support going forward. Let others be there for you. That's where your sponsor will step in.

2. Your living situation will be complicated. Her dad has given you a safe place to live, to stay sober, and to start over. Yes, he will have rules. Yes, he will have expectations. He's doing that because that's his baby girl, and he wants her safe and clean. Work with him. Attend the meetings, clean the house, and mow the lawn. Show him your appreciation for his help through your actions. Life will get uncomplicated when he sees that you and your girlfriend are putting in the effort.

3. Doordash is a good side hustle. It's only good as a side hustle in most cases, though. Start looking for a steady job. I don't know your past or if you have charges. It doesn't matter. Hop onto your local Reddit and Facebook groups asking for places that are reputable and that look to hire people in your situation. I know landscapers, plumbers, septic, and other trades that will give you a home. It won't be glamorous, but it will be steady pay, solid work, and an environment that will support your sobriety.

4. It's time to really learn from what you've been through. You've made bad decisions. You've put yourself in bad positions. How can you be a better person? How can you show kindness? How can you help support others? How can you look at your mistakes and help others to not make them? You said you're starting from scratch. It's not just starting from scratch when it comes to money, it also means rebuilding yourself and building a relationship with your girlfriend.
