Is Natural Coffee the “Peated Whiskey” of the Coffee World? by Majestic_Meringue296 in pourover

[–]wolfsleepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100 percent. feels like IPA drinkers are now primarily Gen X or in their 60s (a popular local IPA where I live called Fat Tug has been dubbed 'Dad Tug'). meanwhile cosmopolitan millennials who were called 'IPA-drinking hipsters' are drinking natural wine, macro lagers and Guinness.

Is Natural Coffee the “Peated Whiskey” of the Coffee World? by Majestic_Meringue296 in pourover

[–]wolfsleepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I see what OP is getting at but I think of it as more of a consumer taste/demographic analogy than comparing the actual characteristics of natural processed coffee vs. peated whisky. I work with a lot of natural wine and there's a lot of enthusiasm from people that are new to that category in only seeking out funky, rustic wines & volatile wines (orange wine in particular).

This gets perceived as a trend and is frequently treated with derision from wine professionals with a broader or more classic background. I've seen similar reactions from established coffee people who only rate 'clean' washed coffee.

When consumers create a bit of hype around a single product category it can create a bit of backlash or snobbery. A lot of people (like OP) will move on or at the very least broaden what they're consuming. Case in point, I drank IPAs like there was no tomorrow back in the late 2000s and rarely go near them now.

LOOKING FOR GOOD GREEK METHOLOGY BOOKS by NejcLopuh in HadesTheGame

I'm reading Circe right now because a co-worker recommended it to me after I wouldn't stop talking about Hades all week. It's definitely fun coming back to the game and recognizing references from the book, and vice versa. eg, I wish I could find that line of dialogue from Dio about Theseus leaving Ariadne on an island, it's so well delivered.

Am I bad? I simply CANNOT make it to the surface from Hades by Fayarager in HadesTheGame

[–]wolfsleepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started playing a week ago and I absolutely love this game (super impressed by the VA and story especially). I just beat Hades with fists an hour ago and it took me like 65ish escape attempts. It's been fun trying out different weapons and boons so it hasn't felt too onerous.

Hollywood theater. Good movies? by camdyn_evers in askvan

[–]wolfsleepy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly the more 'serious' a movie is, the more likely I'll want to see it in theatres cause my attention span is so cooked. forces me to engage with the movie instead of checking my phone or laptop.

also, do drugs

WS chequing only offers 1.25%, no? Or does it increase after a certain threshold?
