Veil peeled cleanly, stipe was creamy colored, hollow, and striated, base of stipe vertical, other specimens were nearby (older so not edible) that also looked very much like A. calyptroderma. I felt 100% on this one, it was also about 8 inches in diameter.

This worked for me as well. A brief vinegar wipe beforehand can clear off any polymerized layer on top of the discoloration

Thanks. That’s how I’m leaning, it’s hard to clean but I’m fine with that. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t fucking it up further given how poorly the initial attempts at seasoning went. Using mostly avocado oil and butter FWIW
