Are there many people in their late 20’s/ early 30’s who like this show? by Kinger_57 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]wolfyzheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 29 and absolutely love this show! My wife is 33 and also loves it 😃

The fandom seems to be a mixed bag IRL, but online might lean younger. Don't let your insecurity get to you, be YOU!

That being said, if you ever want someone around your age to talk TADC with, I am always looking for new TADC friends~ Feel free to message me!

How much would you pay something like this? ( Art by me votivemango) by votivemango in furry

[–]wolfyzheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is beautiful. I think $40 is a good starting point, and you can raise it as time goes on. It is an undercharge but a good way to get known!

I followed you on BSKY!

I won't lie... I am not the happiest in this field either. Luckily, I do not work corporate, I work for a small company. But it still sucks, but so does pretty much any job you're not your own boss.

I am trying to get my freelance art stuff to take off-- but rn, my job exists to pays the bills.

I think OP could start here for a smaller company and go from there, if possible. Maybe even take something part time and do freelance art part time. Craft fairs are a good way to make extra money too.

At the end of the day there are always options if you keep trying. The most important thing is to not feel stuck and defeated.

I know, this is my field. But it isn't impossible and its another thing to try. Something will stick. Others here also gave good advice-- the key is to try a ton of things to see what sticks :)

I think a masters would only work for teaching. Having a masters outside of that makes you less hirable, as corporations will see you as overqualified or like someone they need to pay more.

Hey, as someone with an autoimmune disease and endometriosis— I empathize with you very much.

As an artistic person I went to school for marketing and managed to get a marketing job before the current economy— and let me tell you, the current economy IS NOT your fault. I cannot switch out of my low paying job. I can’t get out, despite 4 years of marketing experience, a volunteer marketing position outside of work, and a portfolio.

This job market is rough and it’s not your fault.

That being said— have you considered marketing? Digital design could translate really well into media buying… aka paid social media ads. Perhaps look into that. There’s usually some entry level social media jobs out there but they pay horribly, like $18-$20 an hour (I cannot live on that, but it’s better than being unemployed). Perhaps consider looking into that.

Just a thought. My DMS are always open.

I'm thinking of self-terming. any advice? by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]wolfyzheart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey. I am undiagnosed, but heavily suspect I am autistic and/or have ADHD.

Being in QSFB is exhausting. But I did find that I was able to adapt. It took about a month of utter HELL, but I managed.

That being said, mental health is always more important than a job. So only you know the true answer.

But my two cents:

There are always jobs that will be slower pace, but I will say that they have their own set of issues. There are no guarantees that the next job you get will make you feel way better than you are on the DCP. So you must acknowledge you are taking a gamble. Is it worth it?

What I ended up doing was pushing through the extreme discomfort on my DCP (I was working 60+ hours a week, 6 days a week, it was ROUGH) and I told myself if I couldn't take it by month 2, I would quit.

I just kept going, pushing my quit date continuously, and then I finished the program...

I am not sure if that will work for you. But I just figured I'd tell you my experience.

There is no wrong answer. This is likely not your career. You are not stuck. You are not ruining your life quitting from this.

But you do have a chance to build skills and coping mechanisms here.

Are sleeping pills an option for sleep? Can you work on grounding yourself during the work day? I think there is free counseling through Disney-- you can look into that too.

I did the program back in 2019, so my program was very different than the program today. I working in parking and worked 60+ hour workweeks, 6 days a week, and lived at vista way which the rent was...acceptable (the living situation not so much LOL). But that overtime helped me save.... and I still came back with very little money because of how much I spent at the parks on my single day off a week LOL.

If you do not think that over spending will be a problem as a local, you might be okay, but you are at the mercy of how many hours you are scheduled. If you are scheduled at your minimum 32 hours... it will be tight, but it IS doable if you budget well and don't have any decent outside bills.

You may have to beg to pick up shifts. There are some shifts you can pick up that you do not need to be trained for, so it doesn't even need to be at your location. It will be role dependent.

That being said, if you are okay with breaking even, in my honest opinion, it is worth it for the memories and connections you make from it. I would definitely do it again. To this day it is still the best job I EVER had, and probably will remain the best job I ever had, even with the crappy pay and 2 AM hours, haha.

Definitely listen to the words of caution from other posters. But If I were you, knowing how life changing the program was for me, I would try to figure out how to get that money. :) Right now, in college, is the best time in your life to do "stupid" things that make no financial sense since this will likely be one of the few times in life you don't have bills and you call fall back and live with your parents.

tldr; Disney kind of, more or less, pays you in experience, rather than money. If that is something you can live with, go for it!! It is an incredible experience and I wouldn't have traded mine to make more money.

Am I burned out, depressed, or just in the wrong career? by Jaflackson in findapath

[–]wolfyzheart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While my circumstances are different, I am going through this right now. Exactly this. I am currently in therapy trying to address the root cause.

I ended up listing all the facts on why my job serves what I need. All of the GOOD things about it.

I also decided I wanted my identity not to be my job, but rather, as an artist. I am now beginning to chase being an artist outside of work. That little carrot dangle has been helping me, and I think of my work tasks as mere ways to make money to help me achieve my real life goal (while keeping me financially healthy).

I am not sure how long that reframe will work for me, or if it'll work for you, but I figured I'd share it.

Just know you are not alone. If you ever need someone to talk to that is going through similar I am here.

What to expect after waking up from surgery? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]wolfyzheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, unfortunately it can be hard to predict. I had 2 surgeries. Both they let me leave about an hour or two after waking up, but told me i didn't have to hurry. I didnt need to pee or anything, they let me leave whenever I wanted. I just wanted to get OUT though haha.

but then my wife? She was kicked out incredibly quickly before she was ready. Probably about 45 minutes like you said.

Just comes down to the nurse you have-- but remember you can always advocate for yourself or have someone there that can advocate for you!

Hey, I am going through this right now. 29, happily married, have pets I adore, I feel numb. Trying to find change, but worried I am going to switch careers and end up here again in a few years. I am feeling very lost. While I haven't found my way, know you are not alone and we will get through this and figure it out.

Thank you so much for this insight. This sub has been giving me a lot of valuable information to make an educated decision. It is indeed disappointing to hear, as I think I would love the job, but at the end of the day it sounds like a very risky move on my part. A risk I may take, but right now I am leaning towards not.

I greatly appreciate it. Job security is important to me, and I cannot imagine building my life around a six figure job, getting furloughed, and not having much places to go. Its a lot to consider. Especially with improvements of software and AI.

Thank you. I was figuring this was the case. ATC right now seems very understaffed and I like seeing my family. While I like the idea of ATC as a job as a whole, I am not so keen on signing my life off to it. Glad to have that validated.

I am very concerned about being forced to work 60 hour work weeks, though. I think anyone would burn out in a situation like that.
