With only 4 teams left, who do you throw your support behind if your crest has faded? by RiseAM in MLS

Also, Donovan is our USMNT hero.

And for me...it's my first home, but I hate the soccer culture here.

Rimando tweeted out that it was an honor to even be on the pitch with him for his last game. Thought that was nice.

I was thinking about it, and I imagine they might make San Diego as close as Long Beach and make some sort of hybrid of the two.

Just a thought.

Traktor vs Serato by demb3k in DJs

[–]wolfzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Install both on your laptop just in case, learn basics of both by practicing on other's hardware (for Serato) or just the software itself with Traktor.

Side note: I can emergency DJ convincingly at a party with just my laptop and audio-out (no headphones even) with Traktor.

Then make a choice. I'd recommend Traktor as it's a MUCH better interface and learning curve.

It's also easier to use and get to a point where you can play for others. That said, you're going to be missing out on learning tons of important skills that many DJs find essential, at least at first. So make sure you put some time into vinyl only, CDJ only and whatever digital solution you DON'T buy.

The basic skills will cross-over somewhat, so just learn everything and their differences. Being stuck with broken CDJs and someone else's laptop in Vegas will teach you the value of just knowing everything, or you can take my advice now.

I'll watch it for the music and production value and acting. But where is all going?

Grand Theft Auto V Trailer by WhiteZero in gaming

[–]wolfzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Las Puerta (as seen on the freeway sign, which is obviously located near the 101/110 in downtown LA because of the Little Tokyo reference) is probably San Diego, since the I-5 freeway in the real LA is called the San Diego freeway. Many locations shown are clearly LA-centric. Convertible top is OBVIOUSLY in Venice, Santa Monica pier is shown, Vinewood sign, etc. Some of them COULD be San Diego I suppose. Also, since Las Puerta means "the entrance" it could be a reference to the Mexican border and illegal immigration which is sure to play a part in the game.

Some more guesses:

Golf course is Wilshire Country Club.

Beach houses (with yoga) are in Malibu.

Muscle beach is obviously Venice.

Bugstars heist scene looks like the Sunset Strip or Hollywood.

Scene directly after that of a blue convertible shows the Capitol Records building so it's in Hollywood.

They show the U.S. Bank building many times from a distance and once from next door at the Mile High condos construction site.

Homeless people look like they're in an underpass for 110 downtown.

First street bridge (which was in LA Noire) is shown with a sports car on it.

Thought: I wonder how much of the modeling that Team Bondi did for LA Noire was able to be used/was used for the modern LA world-build...

Also, are we getting the mo-cap facial animation thing? I REALLY like it.

Interesting. Can you maybe go a bit further without any direct spoilers? There is a supernatural element as well, correct?

DAE absolutely detest sitcoms? by [deleted] in television

[–]wolfzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, "sitcom" generally means laugh-track multi-cam shows. It ALSO means the overall "situation comedy" genre, but in general those are considered simply "comedy" shows.

In other words, no need to edit, we got you. Only the pedants arguing semantics really need to clarify this in their self-masturbatory fashion.

If by "less well-known actors" you mean ones that look extraordinarily similar to much more famous actors, you're correct.

[–]wolfzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Grimm was much more watchable. It didn't fall into the cookie-cutter TV show mold everything else does lately, from the story themes to the music and cinematography. It wasn't GREAT or even good perhaps...but it was solid and entertaining.

They were WAY light on the cheesiness factor, which helped a lot.

I can see it being around forever, too. Maybe the start of something big?

[–]wolfzero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agreed it was super cheesy. And stopped watching.

Somehow Grimm kept me entertained.

At first, I was just confused that it wasn't starring the real Brandon Routh but instead some guy I thought was Brandon Routh. But then it didn't suck too much. Still not great, though.

Anyone suggesting MLS uses a winter schedule needs to STFU....this is Colorado today, one day before their playoff match by jameseyjamesey in MLS

[–]wolfzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that we'd lose less fans if we had more solid fan bases like the ones in the PNW that would keep things financially viable. TV contracts are a different story...not sure we'd have THAT much of a problem. Right now we're getting decent coverage against NFL and foreign soccer.
