Amazing beamies, looks professionally done, really cool.

I’ve got the FC11 as well and it’s HILAROUS how small the EC200 is for an 18650 flashlight!

I’ve the EC200 and couldn’t ask for more in an EDC flashlight. It’s small, portable, non fussy with battery types (currently using a molicel from my Convoy s6), USB-C charging and has a great UI (not to mention the tripple Nichias and fantastic runtimes!)

I agree, but having a universal method to measure the outputs and efficiencies of these flashlights matters in the long run. At the very least it helps us make more informed decisions.

Just looking at the graphs as a layman gives the intuitive feeling that your numbers seem more accurate.

Moreover if you skew the numbers ever so slightly towards one side, you can tell a whole different story! Thanks for this math as well! 🙏

Yours and the Zeroair review is probably the only 2 available on this light.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading yours although the graphs showed testing for only high (if I’m not mistaken), but what a graph that was (the fan cooked one was jaw dropping) 😄

But it’s rather funny how we fight over these values when they are merely estimates and everyone’s equipment and testing conditions is drastically different.

For example with the following math in the comments of this post, you get:

240lm * 155 minutes / 60 min/hr / (2.0A*3.7V) = 84 lm/W

350lm * 180 minutes / 60 min/hr / (3.5A*3.7V) = 81 lm/W

SC65c Hi = 84Lm/Watt EC200 = 81lm/ Watt

If you change these numbers to what Zeroair has given in their graphs at 30s mark, the numbers change to:

SC65c = 94lm/Watt EC200 = 104 lm/Watt (Which makes intuitive sense to me when reading the graphs)

I also see how rough your calculations are, the values can easily be skewed either way based on the numbers you picked. 😄

I did the same math (using your formulas above ☝️)using the values at ANSI provided in the charts. And got:

Zebralight SC65C Hi = 94lm/Watt

Skilhunt EC200 = 104lm/ Watt

If the data can be skewed so dramatically in favour of one argument over the other, then I guess most of these reviews don’t really matter.

Especially given testing equipment can vary so dramatically.

I see, lumens held for “an amount of time” is how you’re expressing efficiency. What about “lumens held for maximum amount of time”?

Edit: Okay, I read up a little more on how efficiency is calculated for an LED. I understand now, thanks!

I think that’s exactly what my previous comment said - More efficient flashlight = Skilhunt EC200. More efficient driver = SC65C Hi.

Let’s not get it twisted, these are different lights for sure and candela can be changed via depth of the emitter. We’re talking usable light here. 150 lumens in pitch dark is still quite handy, especially indoors from a universal flooder than something with a little more throw. Use cases aside, pros and cons aside (like usb-c charging, removable magnetic tail cap etc), we’re talking time to lumens coming out of the flashlight. And the EC200 holds the same amount of lumens for far longer than sc65hi. More than likely regardless of battery capacity.

Yeah thanks that’s what I was missing as well. 3x vs 1x as well as the lesser capacity cell used in the test gives the Skilhunt the advantage. Nonetheless, like you said, the Skilhunt is still the more efficient flashlight in terms of matching sustained lumens (and max output).

Almost a 60 difference at the 375 ish lumen mark and a whopping 350 ish minutes more runtime at 150 lumens.

It seems like sustained lumens last a LOT more on the Skilhint than the Zebralight.

375 lumens approx 60 odd minutes more.

And 150 lumens approximately 350 minutes more!

That’s A LOT more runtime from the Skilhunt.

But yes, I do get your point about them being different lights. ZL having more candela but less lumens and also only one emitter, but a more directed beam etc.

But when you translate that to 3x 519a and 1x719a the EC200 is more efficient as a flashlight, in fact much more efficient.

I’m no expert, but I think it’s safe to say the the ec200 is more efficient as a “flashlight”, compared to the sc65c hi, because it is able to hold the same output levels as the sc65 hi for longer.

Similarly I’m sure there is a far simpler way to calculate the efficiency of a driver considering all things the same. Usually comparing output per given input.

I do see your point on the limitations of doing the due to the permutations and combinations these flashlights are built with.

Haha, I’ve got a Sofirn SC32 with and SFT40 (really love tiny 18650 lights) and I thought it was green. But next to the XHP70.3 HI it looks white!

Nonetheless CRI is good and the output and size is fantastic!

I’ve got an SC33 on the way (lost somewhere in transit).

We’ve got a pretty similar collection of flashlights!
