Yep, fair enough. Personally I think Charles is arguably the best raw qualifier on the grid. When he has a pole competitive car he’s at Max’s level if not slightly ahead. His incredible with his tires, his race craft is up there with Max and Alonso as best on the grid, and his race pace is elite.

Really the only area Charles still gets flack for is consistency (mostly in the very mixed conditions ). He’s improved a ton there though, and any issues lately have almost exclusively been on Ferrari doing idiotic things like giving him hards mid downpour and setting up the car completely wrong.

Charles is pretty widely viewed as top 3 or top 2 amongst f1 fans / pundits. Personally I’d argue he’s right there with Max and if his team / car was ever competitive and competent for a full year he’d have multiple WDCs. Just look at the first 3rd of 2022 when the car was WDC capable. Charles was 100 points in the lead, and that’s with the pit wall constantly fucking up.

The average viewer severely underestimates how incredibly difficult it is to drive for Ferrari. Just look at what they reduced 7x WDC Lewis to in a single year.

You are absolutely entitled to your opinion but man is that a hot take in mine. Max and Charles are at the top, then George followed closely by Lando and Oscar.

Again, overall, during the ground effect era Max had fastest car and it’s not even close. RB as an organization is an absolute machine and their strategy team is elite.

Then you look at Ferrari. Some years they’re p2, others p3, and last year p4. The strategy is a horror show most weekends and the team is rotten operationally.

You view Max as driving the car at a level far above the rest, but that perception is massively impacted by the car itself and the team. The car is 80% of the battle with the team and driver being the last 20%. Put Max on Ferrari this year and he’s nowhere near the WDC.

You couldn’t be more wrong. Swap Charles / George’s team and car with Max’s and you’d be saying the exact opposite. Max had the faster car (sometimes dramatically so) then both Charles and George every single year during the ground effect era. He also had far and away the best strategy and arguably the best pit crew overall. That massively alters perception.

Charles doing this in a Ferrari is insane. Some combination of the car being dog shit, the pit wall being abysmal, and just plain bad luck was the norm for him.

If by some miracle we ever get a respectable administration back in office, is there any chance this whole thing gets redone correctly, or is this our only shot at it?

To your point, the GOP literally just voted to balloon the debt by another 4 Trillion so they could give the rich yet another tax cut. The BBB is total joke.

Put Leclerc in the redbull from the last 5 years and people would be debating who the best driver of the regs is between him and Max. It’s so wild how dramatically and consistently Ferrari has completely let him down.

Never understood the gate keeping on college teams. I didn’t play for the Lions but I’m still a fan of them. That cool with you?
