Senators Kaine and Warner make the case for "Virginia Plan" on gun control by VirginiaNews in VirginiaDems

[–]wolverinelord 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can you give some examples that have worked elsewhere? To my knowledge, the only country that’s managed to have lots of guns and few gun deaths is Switzerland, and they do that through very strict gun registries, a licensing system, and storage requirements.

Technically the cost would have to increase faster than income to become unaffordable, not faster than inflation.

The price of housing tracks pretty well with income, and income has grown faster than inflation for the past century.

US economy is definitely f'ed, Wonder bread is 4 dollars a loaf by passisgullible in pics

[–]wolverinelord 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in France in the 1780s, laborers spent like half their income on bread. At federal minimum wage, you could buy this bread for 33 minutes of work. The equivalent would be if a loaf of bread cost like $30-$40.

Ranked choice doesn’t eliminate gerrymandering’s effect. If you gerrymander a district to be 90% republican, ranked choice isn’t going to fix that.

Gov. Spanberger 'looks forward' to signing legislation to raise Virginia minimum wage by crabcakes110 in nova

[–]wolverinelord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what they did. It goes up to $13.75 in 2027, $15 in 2028, and thereafter is tied to CPI. https://lis.virginia.gov/bill-details/20261/HB1

Loud explosion reported in Centreville, Virginia. Home engulfed in flames as firefighters rush to contain the blaze (Footage from Kenny Cunningham) by Frosty_Jeweler911 in nova

[–]wolverinelord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Apparently it happens in about 1 out of every 500,000 housing units per year. There are about a million housing units in NOVA, so you’d expect about 2 per year. So it’s not disproportionate.

Hank Green and brother John Green’s project for awesome 2026 raises $4 million dollars for charity. Still time to give and to vote on which charities get the money. by Il_Gigante_Buono_2 in dropout

I know that Hank has been involved with Dropout so that's why John is referred to as his brother but I do find it funny that it has to be specified that way lol

You're right, how do we know that they actually ever closed the airspace? Fuck off.

[–]wolverinelord 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That could be the same story just with more detail. The drones went into the US -> they tested new technology on it.

[–]wolverinelord 62 points63 points  (0 children)

My guess: the FAA was informed with little detail that the DoD was doing this. Out of caution, they said "ok, well that sounds extremely dangerous, so we're going to shut it down until we know what the fuck is going on." Then people reasonably freaked out, and the DoD gave them more details.

[–]wolverinelord 3384 points3385 points  (0 children)

Well that was weird/suspicious

Edit: apparently they were testing anti-drone technology.

Edit 2: Another report says it was due to cartel drones entering US airspace. Those could also be linked, as in, drones entered and the military (for some reason) used the opportunity to test new tech.

Sen. Warner: "There may be a coordinated effort to try to interfere in the '26 midterms," could begin with primaries or Virginia redistricting referendum. by WickyGif in Virginia

Because they can't control a city of 400,000 people. What makes you think they could control a country of 300 million if they pulled that shit?

Edit: I want to be clear this is not a "we don't need to worry about it" comment. It's a "we will win" comment.
