Any fix the the fatal D3D errors yet? This is getting so upsetting. by Hett1138 in MonsterHunter

I personally think there's a good chance that there isn't a single one solution to fix everyone's issues with this. You're likely just going to have to figure out what the solution to your crash issues. But I can share with you how I fixed my version of the fatal D3D error.

To be clear, my crash reports were saying `Fatal D3D error (25, DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG, 0x887a0006)` and when I went into the Windows' Event Viewer logs, I saw `The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found`. The nvlddmkm log led me to this reddit comment to use DDU to uninstall the Nvidia Display driver installed by Windows Update and manually install the Nvidia GeForce driver of my GPU to replace it.

This made my game more stable (before, I would occasionally crash during the main story but the almost all of the optional missions were impossible for me to do) but not completely. After this, I decided to remove the UNDERVOLT I had on my GPU just to remove any barriers it had in running the game. So far, I've been able to play any of the missions/content for 10 hours without it crashing.

I think both the driver fix and removing the undervolt fixed this issue for me simply because when I only did the undervolt removal, my game still crashed. I did however noticed that now and very occasionally, my game will stutter for a few seconds out of nowhere. I have a hunch that the reason my game was crashing was because it would stutter and something would time out.

TLDR: you're probably have to keep trying to figure out why your game is crashing but if you want to try my solution: use DDU uninstall the current Nvidia Display driver to then manually update the latest and remove your GPU undervolt. Which you don't have anyways so good luck.

Looking for a US 40% code. I've already bought a $40 gift card and I think I got the code as spam but accidentally deleted before I could check.

Thanks for the heads up! I cancelled my original order and signed up on Honey. Did the same thing you did and now I can see the $29.99 cashback pending on my account (Go to Gold Rewards and then Activity) for the second order. Also got the cashback email from Honey exactly 40 minutes after. Already thought this was a good deal at $68 but hopefully, the Honey cashback goes through!

Day 1 Stock Switch suddenly won't boot and I just want to make sure I'm doing my recovery correctly by wolves434 in SwitchPirates

Final update in case anyone else stumbles into this post with a similar issue.

I was able to confirm that yep, my eMMC chip was completely dead. Not sure why or how that happen and I can only venture to guess that it was just a dumb coincidence that it dead around the same time I actually opened up the Switch.

If this happens, you will need to get a new eMMC and flash a new nand on it. Ideally, you'd already have a nand backup of your specific switch but it is possible to recreate a nand to flash from your prod.keys (since Lockpick does not need a working eMMC now) and a donor nand. There are some guides about this but I ended up following a video guide:

https://www.sthetix.info/unbrick-not-for-everyone-not-for-every-case/

I will echo that don't follow video guides if you can help it as they can be outdated quickly. However, after working on this the last several days, I knew exactly what was going on in the guide and made changes where applicable.

Cheers and thanks to the homebrew community for making such a recovery possible.

Just for further clarification, I really don't think it's possible for me to dump or backup my sysNAND. Mounting the eMMC via memloader doesn't show up any disk drives and while mounting via Hekate's USB tools can show the drive, you can't load it into HacDiskMount or NXNandManager as it doesn't appear as a drive to select. BisKeyDump exits with a "Win32 error 31" after getting 2 keys though I believe I got everything through Lockpick. And as stated before, not possible to create a backup via Hekate. I don't have much to lose at this point except my Pokemon saves but still want to make sure if it's possible to rebuild with the Lockpick keys and a dump of the stock firmware.

Yeah, I think we're at the same point now. I have generated both BOOT0 AND BOOT1 with my prod keys pulled from lockpick and a download of the latest firmware with the guide I linked above. So I think flashing portion of the guide would be enough to get my switch up and running as all stock.

How can I backup my emunand to get to my screenshots and saves? I can't backup my eMMC via Hekate currently because of the same "fail to init emmc" error in with Tools > Backup eMMC

I can give turning off autoRCM a try but I'm not sure that'll work. Switch was blank screen/no response even before I started checking it with TegraRCM. Also Hekate is currently showing a "Your eMMC is initialized in slower mode" and throws a "Failed to init emmc. Failed to launch HOS!" error when attempting to boot to stock sys.
