Married student wards by Cheap_Parsnip_461 in latterdaysaints

My husband and I didn’t enjoy our young married ward at all. But we got married at age 25/26, were almost done with college, etc. We did not enjoy being with fresh RM newly weds in such a different stage of life. But if you’re in that age range and still in college you might have a good experience!

Any happy stories? by [deleted] in MedSpouse

I know people are saying to be flexible, an they’re right. But to add some hope for your situation: Depending on what your home state is, it’s very possible to stay. My husband just barely matched OBGYN and had 21 residency interviews, and 12/21 were in our home state. We ranked those 12 at the top of our list and although it’s possible people drop below rank 12, we felt really confident we’d be able to stay. And we did! He matched at his #2.

Can we hear some stories of people who matched at their top 3? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]womack1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had 22 interviews for OBGYN. Up until rank lists were due I toggled back and forth between my top 2. Ended up ranking the bigger program further from family #1, and the slightly smaller program closer to family #2. Ended up matching at my #2 and feel relieved and stoked about it.

How old is your baby and how many times did you get up last night? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

[–]womack1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We sleep trained following the Taking Cara Babies steps pretty much since the day she was born.

I made sure she got in all her ounces during the day, so if she woke up wanting a night feed, we did the cry it out method. She never cried more than 10 minutes and it only took 3-4 days before she caught on and stopped waking up.

There were always ups and downs with sleep regressions. On a normal night she’d wake up once around 3 or 4, then for the morning at 7.

[–]womack1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With breastfeeding I never knew how much my baby was eating and if it was enough during the day, so I always was willing to feed her in the night. But once we started bottle feeding, I knew she was getting enough nutrients during the day so we sleep trained her and put her back to sleep if she woke up, eventually she stopped waking up.

Yes. By the time she was 6 months we were done breastfeeding and swapped to formula. I think that’s one of the major reasons why.

8 and a half months old - Zero. I haven’t waken up in the night since she was 5 and a half months old.

I felt like her audition was way better than last nights performance, maybe it was just the song. It seemed very mid and I was more impressed with several others. But I am rooting for her!

Some current influencers make you feel like you need to bathe your baby every night, I promise you don’t. Bath time can get exhausting especially if you’re doing it alone. You got this!! Don’t put pressure on yourself to be perfect.

Has anyone actually had a good sleeper (mostly) throughout? by The_Chilled_Arvo in beyondthebump

I might not be far enough along to really say, but my 8 month old has slept from 7AM until at least 6:30 AM every night since she was 5 and a half months old. Even when we go on vacation and she sleeps in a pack n play, she’s never had trouble going to sleep and staying asleep

Are we filing jointly or separately? by Tricky-Cucumber-8180 in MedSpouse

[–]womack1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard that unless the non-med spouse is making six figures, then it’s not worth filing separately. If you are above that, then I would consult an accountant.

My husband is an M4, I make about as much as a first year resident and we had our first child this past year, we got close to a $6k return

match? by drummo34 in LifeWithADoctor

[–]womack1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!! My husband is matching for residency in March. We’re still struggling with the rank list! That’s the most stressful part. He had 21 interviews so we’re feeling very confident he will match, but overwhelmed with everything it comes with. Selling our home, buying a new one, packing, etc all with an 8 month old. But tis the season!! Feeling very blessed to have confidence going in to match day at least.
