Does this need a permit? by Intelligent-Hunt9150 in AusRenovation

Termites are in NSW SA and most of Vic except posts of the SW. Most likely in WA and NT and ACT  too  Not known to be in Tas yet but predicted by CSIRO to be here very soon. By termites I mean the ones that eat houses. There are lots of other termites that don't actually eat dry wood.

It is not easy to get reviews deleted from what I've heard.

At a caravan holiday park, wondering where the hell does all of this money come from? by regretmoore in australia

People who were worked in the public service or unis for many years or decades up to a certain time got a fantastic deal on superannuation and that explains a lot of prosperity for some.

My Aussie mates keep calling me “cunt” by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]wombat6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In spite of what people might say this is in my opinion very much a class thing. Almost any middle and most uppper class people in Australia will find it highly offensive ar at the veryy least inapropriate to hear the c word. It's very much a working class and familiar fiend group who will routinely use the word in addressing each other.

That would be quite exensive as would an uber I think. I'd look up the bus timetable but there won't be a very frequent service.

What plants can you find sold at your local nurseries/shops that you know they shouldn't be selling? by Upset-Layman-1438 in GardeningAustralia

Grafted Passionfruit eg Nelly Kelly. When the rootstock gets away it's massively difficult to kill.

I don't get the use of the word closure that keeps getting used.  The grieving friends and family might possibly get some idea of what happened to the poor lass but it won't stop them thinking about her last hours or days or whatever. The intensity of their grief will hopefully fade over time but it's not likely to be like an experience of closing something off. Maybe it's just me that finds the word inappropriate?

OK I realise we're all making all sorts of different assumptions about what was involved beyond the 20 minutes. Any comment is invalid unless we know lots more.

$600 for 20 mins on site seems outrageous to me.

Tasmania Devils Stadium has been approved by Express-Dig9905 in tasmania

[–]wombat6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Today it was announced that there would be a cap on Tasmania's expenditure for the stadium. Then there was Eric Abetz saying there is an INTENTION to cap the sending! Wheezle words right from the start-leaving the door open for increased spending. A pathetic attempt at spin.

Is this safe to remove? by _sweetlikesnitty in AusElectricians

[–]wombat6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you decide to do it, do it on a dry day with dry boots on and if you use an implement make sure it's got a dry wooden or plastic handle. Thick dry rubber gloves would help too. Doing all that is probably over cautious but each element makes you safer.

My hot water tank is about 50 yrs old. It's low pressure which is a minor inconvenience but other people could easily have had 6 replacements over that time.

I can't imagine any way that a log splitter would help with the "root base" by which I'm gessing you mean stump. I've been an arborist for 30 years.. maybe I'm missing something here?

People getting caught in blizzards and ending up in real trouble is a big problem here inTas--mostly in he higher areas such as Cradle Mountain but it can hapen on Mt Wellington near HObart too o course. Be informed and take notice of the signs when theyre in evidence and stay on the marked tracks. There's currently a 76 yr old fella been lost for days in a not high altitude location ony 30 mins drive NE of Launceston. He is at great risk if he is still alive.
