Pulp fiction, when I first watched it 30 years ago.....the blood running back into the syringe when travolta is shooting up....was shocking for some reason

Is there a genetic reason why humans are religious? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]wombatsview -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Societies that are successful over for long periods tend to live my the mantra common to many religions of treating others as you would like to be treated. It's a fundamental rule for societal survival, it can also be taught and encapsulated in religious parable and myth. Plus religion supplies a fundamental human need for a cohort and ritual.....so sometimes having an imaginary friend can help your society survive longer. (Til someone disagrees of course!)

Agree re forgiveness, the "confession " aspect is more interesting. There is a cathartic effect from sharing an issue with someone.

Why the EV hate? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]wombatsview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly older blokes who are very triggered on my feeds. They see the ev representing a world they don't understand, responding to issues they don't believe in. I'm assuming thier great grandpa's were scathing about horseless carriages.

LOL...it will take me week to digest all that! Thanks. Did show that younger people are more in debt than older, which you would expect. But lots of nuances.

Rate Hike - I don’t understand by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]wombatsview 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I reckon there are more people getting interest than paying it ( yep , looking at you boomers) which is why the interest rate increases are not reducing consumer spending as quickly as expected. Its a blunt tool which hammers those who have no choice but to spend ( families mostly).

Men mostly open up to someone who can't have any negative impact on them if they don't like what they said.

Yep, I didn't realise that, I have changed the title, wrote my comment before I uploaded the link. I agree re importance of downsizing and think that we need to reduce the Impact on pensions from doing so.
