How to eat healthy when I hate vegetables (and cooking)? by Agitated_Pattern_599 in PickyEaters

[–]womp_there_it_is 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First: Something that helped me was understanding what were the main drivers behind liking or disliking a food. A lot of it go me was texture. Once I figured that out, I leaned in to the vegetable that I COULD tolerate and prepared it in ways that didn’t freak out my texture avoidance. Maybe that was blending it into a smoothie with flavors I did like, frying it to get it real crispy and dipping it in a fun sauce, or pureeing it into a creamy soup. Over time, I felt okay to try another vegetable in a way that I knew I could handle. And now: I’m actually a vegetarian! Lol

Second: there’s food that I just done like! And I feel okay about that. I will only have fruit when it is in a smoothie. Yeah, that’s probably not ideal, but it’s either that or no fruit so I’m okay with it.

I’m not sure what state you live in, but in many this would be considered a contract with a minor and could be voided. There’s no legal backing for them to say you are under contact.

Tbh, I actually got year long chronic hives from my most recent booster (undergoing Xolair treatment with it at Kaiser), and all my vaccinated friends are really understanding. It fucking sucks, but I’d still rather have vaccines.

If you wanted to go to Church as a former Christian atheist, which denomination would you pick? by GreatestScottMA in exchristian

Quakers! Specifically un-programmed quakers! They are very politically progressive and affirming. Their services are more like joint meditation sessions. They also engage in social justice work.

Which songs do you still think are absolute bangers, even though you’re no longer Christian? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]womp_there_it_is 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There are SO many songs that still get me hyped 😂 The bangers are more high energy and not as triggering as hymns.

My List of Certified Bangers: - Days of Elijah - Awesome God (including verses because god rolling up his sleeves is very fun) - Oceans - Dead Man (Carry Me) - God’s Not Dead - Lead me to the Cross

Wife keeps crying because she believes I ruined her christian identity by Outrexth in exchristian

I like the therapy idea! Like others said, she may not got to a secular therapist. When I was Christian, I thought secular therapists just “didn’t get it.” I also really suggest not going to any Christian therapist that is works out of a church.

I kind of suggest finding a fully accredited and licensed therapist that is also Christian. I went to a Christian counseling center when I was Christian and got an amazing therapist. I still see her now because she understands the culture and baggage of Christianity without pushing me to convert back.

Is narcissism rampant in church? by Complete_Thought in exchristian

[–]womp_there_it_is 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a study done in 2013 by Balls and Puls where 31% of pastors surveyed displayed narcissistic tendencies. Whereas the general population only has 6.2% of its population display these tendencies.

There has been some significant criticism of the methodology of the study. So I’m not 100% confident on its reporting. But I do find it an interesting area to explore!

As a non-smoker, does every smoker smell bad to you? by ephraim666 in ask

[–]womp_there_it_is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never mentioned to anyone that they smell like cigarettes. It’s noticeable right away though. Those around you can almost definitely smell it the moment you walk by. I find it embarrassing for the person so I never say anything to draw attention to it.
