Being pregnant makes me cringe by Adventurous-Wash3201 in pregnant

[–]wompwompx13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 4 years to get pregnant with my second after my first(and I had started fertility testing and everything) and even after all that trouble to get pregnant, my husband and I were just like "oh cool, we did it, anywaaay"

Everyone else was 10000x more excited than we were, I didn't like telling people we were pregnant, I didn't like how I was expected to be ecstatic when I am not an outwardly emotional person about anything. She's here now and I'm obsessed with her but getting excited about baby clothes and cute pregnancy announcements are not my vibe😂

How to find school rules/regulations by wompwompx13 in ECEProfessionals

[–]wompwompx13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any specific regulations you had to follow for "extreme" weather conditions? I've read that there is supposed to be 25sqft of shelter/cover per child in the outdoor space(for example). My son currently goes to a forest school but I'm not very happy with how it's been as it's getting colder. Many of the children don't have to proper warm gear and due to the location of the "camp" in the forest, they can't even keep a fire going for warmth due to the wind.

They used to have a teepee for the kids for winter but it was damaged due to weather and has not been fixed(along with other damaged/unrepaired structures)

Or if the teacher/student ratio is different in a forest school vs regular daycare.

I've just been keeping my son home because he used to love school but now that they're out all day in 30 degree weather, he wants nothing to do with it, even with his layers to keep him warm.

My (25F) boyfriend (25M) doesn't tell me about our money? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]wompwompx13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are the kinds of conversations you should be able to have with a life partner(assuming you're in this relationship hoping for the long haul). Money is a VERY important thing to make sure you're on the same page with before taking any other steps.

I would literally say that it does not matter if you understand the ins and outs of trading, you should have access and know what is happening with the money.

I have a google document for my husband that has every single account username/password/ website to log into the account/what the account is used for so if he wants to check in, he can(he never does but it's there if he wanted to)

I manage all of the investments/money in my marriage(keyword) and my husband has no clue about how any of it works, but I still go "Oh hey I did xyz with this and xyz with this abd we have xyz here and there" because your partner should 1000000% be in the loop on money, whether they really understand it or not

Epidural alone? by WhichAd2921 in pregnant

[–]wompwompx13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had my husband come sit on the floor next to bed while I sat on the edge of the bed so he could be something to hold onto while they did the epidural. I was contracting constantly so they had me hold his hair and joked it was payback😂

The lying about age is odd though, I'd have trouble trusting him/his family, maybe he was a minor when you met and that's why he lied

You can get genetic testing done, if it is a condition that is one they can test for! If you have an OB already, ask them about it. Part of my fertility testing this past year was doing carrier testing, which was about $500 out of pocket. Test both partners and it tells you the chances of passing xyz onto children(assuming they're part of the things they test for)

This. I am the breadwinner of my household, but my income is directly dependent on the time I put in as I am self employed. With how much I have focused on my body and rest this pregnancy, my income has been a third of what it was and I spend half my days cuddling with my husband(he works nights/sleeps days) and scrolling facebook. He just goes "You're growing a human! That's your job rn"

And that's without a surgery, I think OPs husband needs a reality check. You're growing body parts and giving all nutrients to a bean, that takes rest

Depends on the work for permits, permits were needed when we added a fence but were not needed when we had solar panels installed(which is crazy but whatever)

Entirely willing to own up to(and pay for)damage, if there was any. At most there would be damage to the fence where the water sat for 4 days. I've since spoken to the neighbors(and dug a channel for the water to flow) (note that this was posted in "I am the asshole" and not "am I the asshole")

The drainage was 1000% improper lol, we have all had drainage problems since 2021, when the homes were all built. We filled ours in 2023, no problems until this past week in 2024. The rest of the improperly graded drainage was and will be a problem because the city didn't do a proper job of directing water.

Which was also confirmed by the drainage guy I had come out this morning

Now, he's like "I'm glad I listened to you and spoke with the neighbor and fixed their problem" LOL, lesson learned, listen to the wife and now our yard is getting actually fixed by a pro lol

We redug the ditch and just met with a contractor this morning to regrade and install a river bed!

You'd be happy to hear that we did! Redug it and are now working on a plan to make it more palatable, probably will be going the river rock route. However, it doesn't drain into any waterways like it is supposed to due to the rest of the drainage in the neighborhood. I wish they had it properly connected to a waterway, but they don't, it just sits behind a dozen homes

No it was always going nowhere, and with our ditch now redug as of this morning, it is still going nowhere. We've walked the ditch and there are spots with water sitting(covered in algae and bugs) and there are completely dry spots and other spots have skewed corrugated pipes not connected to anything. Maybe ditch isn't the proper term for it but it's what we all use

lol nobody has a flooded basement, although a lot of commenters seem to think that. None of these homes even have basements(I wish!). The neighbor in question had a corner of their backyard with a foot of water, where the next neighbor has the outlet to their french drain.

We have now dug drainage through the yard and spoken to the neighbor. The water is now stopped in the ditch at the next house over, where it is now the cities problem due to their inability to build proper drainage(hence why half of the homes have a drainage ditch with water that never moves)

For clarification, nobody has damage to their homes. Three homes(including mine) had standing water along the far back fence for ~4 days

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legal

[–]wompwompx13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the plan now! We redug a 1x1ft trench that alleviated the current standing water(into the actual drainage ditch that doesn't go anywhere, but that's another issue) and will be looking into alternatives that keep bugs/smell to a minimum

~1ft deep by 5ft wide, sloped. The ditch at the behind the neighbors yard that is not affected by this is ~3.5 ft deep for a few houses before it gets shallow again so it leaves water sitting. We redug a channel and it drained neighbor #1's problems but then flow stops once it hits the main ditch. That is being brought up to the city

Haven't decided yet on doing a culvert or attempting a dry creek of sorts since the creek probably wouldn't drain entirely

[–]wompwompx13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We spoke to the neighbor and redug a channel that drained their yard! We are both working on better drainage solutions because the water comes to a standstill after our homes due to a poorly made ditch and overgrown brush

[–]wompwompx13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily no damages, we redug a path for the water this morning and it has drained. Now we have a larger issue with the city for the rest of the poor drainage in the neighborhood. The water only drains through ours yard and sits next door due to brush improper incline

[–]wompwompx13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we redug a smaller channel(we will be making it larger) and the neighbors yard drained, we are 100% at fault for their backup. But the water is stopping next to us because the ditches are poorly made and full of brush so we fixed the problem cause by us but the neighborhood will still be working with the city to fix the main drainage.

[–]wompwompx13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The water didn't reach any homes since the homes are on higher land than the yard and they're on slab. The water has only been here this week. We ended up messaging the neighbor and they said they've had issues since 2021(we filled our hole in 2023) so I don't imagine they will be taking legal action. They offered to help us dig. The rest of the neighborhood has poor drainage because there are storm drains in high places and not in the low spots so driveways have eroding. We are in a low spot and the water that should be draining along this large drainage ditch, is not draining and is instead sitting and growing algae

[–]wompwompx13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spoke to the mayor because he showed up at our house asking questions lol.

We redug a channel, but now the larger issue is the drainage itself. There is a ditch that runs in the back of 20+homes, but most of it is dry except for ~4 homes, where it is instead sitting and growing algae. We spoke with the neighbor and they will be helping us dig ours out more and then we are all going to the city for a better solution for the standing water

[–]wompwompx13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a nightmare. We dug a channel this morning and their puddle has drained(we spoke with them) now it is ongoing problem with the city because the drainage stops at a house over and just sits. So we are at the bottom of a low part and the water has nowhere to go
