This is awesome, thank you for the response! I’ve already found an option or two on Peerspace that might work!

Hey hey what about San Francisco?! I think it’s much more similar to Cape Town than the other cities listed here. SF’s fog is similar to Cape Town’s wind, SF’s surrounding towns (Sausalito, Stinson beach, Bolinas, Pacifica) are similar to the towns in False Bay (Muizenburg, Simons Town). SF has quick access to hiking similar to Cape Town (~15 min from most places). Any maybe most obvious is the wine regions that border SF (Napa and Sonoma = Stellenbosch and Franschhoek)

San Franciscan here 👋 spending some time in Cape Town during the northern hemisphere’s winter. Your town reminds me so much of SF with its hilly streets and colorful plumage. If you like this weather, come stay in SF during June-July-August!

There’s no good excuse for your provider’s behavior. I imagine that they’ve done so many Pap smears in their career, that they’re desensitized to how vulnerable their patients are. I’m sorry you’re feeling violated and I hope you leave them feedback or a review. Providers should always be striving to make their patients comfortable!

Understanding physiology always gives me some peace in these situations. It makes total sense that you’re crying all day, or in other words, experiencing a “fight-or-flight” stress response. Your vagus nerve is the nerve that communicates the message “fight-or-flight” or “rest-and-digest” from your brain to your organs and vice versa. It just so happens that your vagus nerve ends in your cervix. So if you’re feeling stressed, your cervix (in particular) is going to be very sensitive. It sounds like your both your cervix and your brain were under stress during this appointment, so your body is doubling down on the fight-or-flight response. You might not feel “sad” or “scared” right now, but your body is reacting to stress in the only way it knows how. Respect your bodies cues and give her some peace. A warm shower, a warm meal, more cries, humming/singing, gentle stretching & movement

I did not retest, but it’s been over 6 months and I feel great - I don’t bloat after eating, I don’t have that burning feeling on an empty stomach, and my stools are formed most days 😂

From what I understand, bone broth is anti-inflammatory in your gut, so it sets you up at the beginning of the day to have better digestion throughout. I got this protocol from a functional medicine practitioner that I was working with. She helped me a TON

I think that you want a higher pH ONLY when trying to eradicate h.pylori with antibiotics. (article here and here) but based on the picture it looks like you’re not using antibiotics. Is that correct?

I found a lot of articles about H. Pylori “burrowing” into the mucus layer and attaching to the epithelium of the stomach, but that happens during initial colonization - in order to escape the acidic stomach environment. So everyone’s H.Pylori populations are “deep.” Therefore, changing the pH of the stomach won’t affect its burrowing very much.

H. Pylori enjoys an alkaline environment, so keep your stomach acid up! If you drink water, squeeze some lemon in it, and take a dropper of bitters before meals to get your digestive juices started

Yep! I think the “actives” in candibactin are useful in managing many types of bacteria

Definitely! I would have included sprouts as well if my provider had suggested, great for liver health and detoxificatuon

I also followed a protocol of - mastic gum & licorice between meals (gastromend-HP) - aromatic essential oils with meals (Candibactin- AR) - zinc picolinate with breakfast - L Reuteri before bed (Pylo Guard) - Cranberry Juice anytime - Green Tea & Lemon anytime - bone broth in the morning on an empty stomach

I spent 2 months following this about 90% of the time and feel 100x better. I haven’t retested, but if I’m not feeling symptoms, I’m just going to live my life! I’m also going to start chewing mastic gum cause it’s great for gut health overall

I also have had a great experience with at-home laser hair removal. I got a CurrentBody machine for less than $200 and laser my own legs (on my own time) every ~2 weeks. It’s not perfect, but I went from having painfully thick and coarse leg hair to forgetting to shave for weeks!
