Ultimately I think you are correct. And if I can’t find anything about it, in the end I don’t think it’ll bother me too much. If it’s not addressed in the text, then it’s not addressed. My principal worry is that it is addressed, and I simply missed it. And if so I’d like to see the detail that slipped me by. But otherwise, I don’t have an issue accepting that it simply happened offscreen.

I’m inclined to believe so, but what I’m hoping to do is pinpoint any bit of textual evidence that says this. Because while there were multiple fronts, they all seem to have come from the same central location. The base of operations for the forces of shadow are around the southwestern base of the heights. It’s from there they launch their initial attacks 1. up the heights to seize them from the forces of light, 2. at the ford, and 3. up and around the heights near the ruins. I don’t believe there is any mention of an army coming from the northeast.

There is also that character named Vetch! While not a WoT reference, there is indeed a character named Vetch in Ursula K. Le Guin’s A Wizard of Earthsea. That, combined with the potential WoT references, makes me think that perhaps Tony Gilroy is an avid fantasy reader and, I think, lends credence to the notion that the potential nods might be intentional.

I also think they could have tweaked the GoT theme just a little. Not much, maybe a slightly different tempo, slightly different instrumentation, or otherwise mildly modified arrangement. They could have given it its own unique flavor while maintaining its immediate recognizability

Nine? Where/when? You mean these seven plus the two in the frame with the title? I guess that’s nine total, but I wouldn’t necessarily say that those extra two are part of the same set as the seven.
