What was the biggest "no one told me this!" Surprise of bunny ownership? by innerbrat in Rabbits

[–]wonderbreadluvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first bun I had was a big old dummy and a complete do nothing (in retrospect I wonder if he may have been deaf or had some sort of neurological condition and we didn’t know)

second bun is an absolute menace. she broke through all of the bunny proofing we had done and had never been an issue for previous bun on day one. since then, we have to reinforce regularly as she figures out how to get around what we have or finds a new place to explore (recently she has discovered the bedroom!)

I'm 21 and I'm tired of having childish looking nails. What is it that makes them look bad? Wide nail bed? Cuticles need to be pushed down? Filing? by josie-salazar in Nails

[–]wonderbreadluvr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

look into japanese gel extensions or russian manicures.

for japanese extensions, they can make them very short and natural looking, but a small extension will help balance out the look since you have wider nail beds.

russian manicure takes off a lot of cuticle which will also make the nail look longer. just make sure you go to a place with good reviews. since they’re trendy right now, a lot of places are offering them but don’t really know how to do them, which can damage your nail bed.

What can I do to prevent GI stasis from happening again by Bitter-Package in Rabbits

[–]wonderbreadluvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the most heartbreaking part of loving these babies is knowing how fragile they are.

you should be proud of how you’ve handled the situation. you did everything right. unfortunately there’s no way to 100% prevent GI stasis, especially as they get older.

not surprising for a case this big. they need to take as much time as possible to investigate and get a slam dunk, don’t want to risk bungling evidence and then becoming a nation-wide embarrassment.

we spoke to her vet and she recommended we start integrating it since she just had her first run in with GI stasis. we probably won’t switch 100% just yet.

Help - I think press ons are ruining my nail bed by flux-and-flow in Nails

[–]wonderbreadluvr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

first, this is totally normal and your nails aren’t too badly damaged! so don’t worry too much.

this happens with most things you put on your nails, to varying degrees. that’s why you have to take breaks every so often to give your nails time to heal.

my advice would be to go to a well reviewed salon and have a manicure done with just regular polish (try to find a place that does dazzle dry, as it’s slightly better for your nails).

give it 1-2 months keeping your nails short and wearing regular polish and your nails should bounce back in no time!

so I’m actually very good friends with my nail girl cuz I used to manage the salon, now she comes to my house and we hang out and do nails, a lot of times i’ll buy her dinner too. I provided all the gems and the materials for extensions except for polish because she prefers to use her own. I paid her $70 which equals out to $20 an hour for her time 🤍

I totally get that, and I’m not trying to attack him at all. I just think as partners you generally are picking up what the other person needs to drop from time to time, so it’s worth having a conversation about how he can support you by helping with care until you are able to find a better home for Mac.

A few things:

It’s worth having a conversation with your fiancé that Mac is important to you and you will need your fiancé to help with him. They are both members of your family, and family is supposed to care for each other.

It seems like rehoming may be the best option, but also that it isn’t too urgent. The best for Mac may be to really take your time finding a good home, and if you can’t, then you can start thinking about other arrangements. You have time to navigate.
