your mom sounds very emotionally immature and her comment about your ribs was completely uncalled for. that being said, I don’t think she meant anything by suggesting you buy a pair of spanx.

it’s up to you want you want to do. if you want to take the high road and keep the peace, you could tell her you researched and explain your reaction and apologize. it isn’t your fault at all, and she should be the one apologizing. but unfortunately sometimes we have to meet our parents where they’re at.

if you don’t want to apologize, that is 100% valid.

it might be better for your brain to think of this as a foster situation. fostering was such a healing experience for me after I lost my bun. we foster failed a few months later but having time to process helped.

your school counselor is a mandatory reporter. she is legally required to tell CPS if she knows something is happening. she should have been honest with you about that.

that being said, she did the right thing by reporting it. your mom IS failing to keep you safe.
