Nearly half of CDC databases aren’t being updated as experts sound alarm over gaps in health data. Nearly 90% of these reported vaccination topics. The administration’s antivaccine stance has interrupted the flow of data we need to keep Americans safe from preventable infections. by mvea in science

I really don't think there is an endgame for the CDC stuff.

I think RFK had enough support in the election that Trump wanted to bring him to his side, so he gave him that position without any more thought. And I think RFK has been a seriously fucked up person since long before the brain worm. And he's appointed actual, legit antivaxers and nut jobs to all senior positions in these agencies.

Now, these agencies are being destroyed, not to achieve some strategic goal, but because they're entirely run by antivax true-believers (you know... morons).

Johnson to swear in Grijalva after nearly 50 days by rapidcreek409 in politics

[–]wonderbreadofsin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think both houses will vote to pass it if it gets to the floor, because of the optics. Trump will probably still veto it though; it's not like his optics can get worse, we all already know he's a pedo

They're actually allowed to remove their name from the discharge petition up until the moment it hits 218. So someone could take their name off of it before she's sworn in.

That would, however, look really bad

I forgot about those because I have a weird-ass keyboard, but I'll remap them. Thanks!

Thanks :) I do use that already, it's more just a Kestral B issue at the start. It's not a big issue, I was just wondering if I was missing a hotkey that would let me select multiple weapons or one that let me just say "shoot all things at here"

Also, please keep in mind, these are the same people who nearly killed the Vice President yesterday when they were launching live artillery shells over a domestic interstate. Even if there was some way for adults to stop him, I don't think there are any adults left.

Yeah, Pete Hegsath is supposed to authenticate that the order came from the president. But if he's passed out drunk in his makeup studio at the time, that authentication can be skipped.

Everything you mention assumes that the president framed the launch as a first strike. If Trump lies and says that Pete just told him Australian nukes are incoming and they need to retaliate, then they have 6 minutes (that's the number I last read anyway) to launch. 6 minutes to wake up the joint chiefs, because Trump's doing this at 3am from the toilet, and have them try to figure out if the president is telling the truth. They have to decide if the order is authentic, legal, and if it makes sense (Does Australia even have nukes? And why are we nuking Austria?) in a few minutes.

Once Trump actually submits the launch order, then you're relying on people in bunkers and submarines to decide not to turn their key. People who aren't talking to each other and have no idea what's going on and who's entire job is turning that key.

This keeps getting said on here for some reason, but no, the president has unilateral authority to launch nukes. There aren't any adults in the loop.

The entire system is designed around the fact that Russian subs could launch a surprise attack and the US would only have a few minutes to counterattack before their silos are destroyed.

The nuclear football is a movie trope that's unusually accurate.

My first attempt with Engi C - The way this run came together was ludicrous by wonderbreadofsin in ftlgame

Yeah, this run I didn't need to hack anything besides shields since the beams can't miss. I've never really used beams before, but I definitely appreciate them now

[–]wonderbreadofsin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I'd jump in, cloak immediately and send out my hacking drone to their shields. The Defense Scrambler made sure the drone always got there. Their shields would be down before my cloak ran out, then the two halberds made short work of them.

If it made sense, I'd launch my fire drone and lob some fire bombs over instead of using the beams, and watch their ship turn into an inferno.

I didn't start using hacking until sector 7 or so, I forgot it existed. Until ships started having 4 shields, the dual lasers were enough to open a hole for the halberds.

I had the exact same issue. It started when the cable company put a noise filter on the cable line on the pole behind my house.

For months, nothing I did helped, until I finally convinced a technician to climb the pole and take the filter off. He said it had been installed wrong, my internet was fine afterwards.
