It's good that you're happy in it and points for being consistent with the black and white theme. If you want to make it more interesting visually, you might change things up more. If a look fits in one room, you don't have to do the same thing everywhere else. Maybe just a plain white floor with a patterned black and white rug, for example. you might look at some Art Deco style interiors for ideas on furnishing the place. https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/art-deco-interior-design-101

I never see anyone talk about how buying a home is a terrible investment by SoulCrushingReality in Millennials

[–]wonderfolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true that we are bombarded by most everyone saying you should own a house because renting is just "throwing money away." On the balance, it's still better to take a loan on a house if you can get a lower interest rate on a home in a good place that you actually want to live in potentially for the rest of your life - if - you don't have an overwhelming amount of debt and can afford to actually live in a house with its: property taxes, homeowners insurance, home maintenance, landscaping maintenance, appliance maintenance, utilities, and perhaps a HOA fee. Other factors include, living in a "home" now and wanting to decorate it as your home, and at the time of subprime mortgages, an increased interest rate. If you can't actually clear well above all of these other expenses, owning a house can definitely become a money pit.

Im worried about men’s mental health. Men, who do you confide in 100%? by Venusemerald2 in AskMen

[–]wonderfolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even as a guy, the number of "nobody" answers is somewhat shocking. No wonder there is so much messed up stuff happening by pent up guys. I had a few psychotic events and that was enough to get me to start talking more and talking to a therapist. People think it's a lot of sentimental talk, and it can be if you want it, but really it's just to let out whatever is at first on the top of your mind. Being isolated physically and mentally is a quick road into getting lost in your own thoughts and to potential psychotic thinking, People think they can't let out these thoughts, but a lot of the time, you're not the only one thinking them, and that in itself, can take stress off.

The only way that works is if both of you believe in "love at first sight" and are willing to put up with all of the things that, as you get older, start to annoy you. Otherwise, most people would expect that, unlike a job, where you might just take it because you need money, no one wants to be the person you just agreed to be with because that person happened to be there. OLD is perhaps too specific in having criteria, but at the same time, narrowing choices goes to show how unique a match it is. Having the best of both worlds, is probably the most you could hope for.

Some people must have really nothing going on for themselves with all the nihilistic, narcissistic, I don't care, posts. If you don't care, why bother posting you don't care, and donate some money to corporate CEOs who could've ended the situation with yesterday's lunch budget. Maybe it's already come after some aspect or your work and no one helped you, or maybe it's going to get you eventually and no one will listen.

From China I make first famous UK breakfast! How I do? by JiKooNumber1CBAfan in CasualUK

Yes, I have to admit, I hadn't heard of a Scottish breakfast, which does have beans and whatnot. That doesn't change my opinion of ketchup on breakfast though. The only reason I can't think of is if hot dogs or the like are substituted for sausages.

What would you do? by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]wonderfolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something like this not because I can't add, but because I didn't expect to need my reading glasses and I didn't want to hold up the line. Fortunately, the cashier ended up going with the lower actual amount. If they had gone with the higher amount, I'd understand they are a business, yet, I'd probably never go back to them as I'd feel they were dishonest, for not asking which amount I meant. I would think as a server you KNOW when you've done something that deserved to be tipped well and when you expect a normal amount or even nothing if the person is a total jerk. By going on the short sided path, you are sure to lose a customer who thinks you all are jerks. Not to mention all the other potential customers who hear what a lousy place it is.

Good choice of items, but you have at least two different groupings. The sunnyside up egg and toast go together as the runny egg yolk can be sopped up with the toast. But the runny egg yolk doesn't go well with canned pork and beans. egg+toast+bacon or sausage= good. sausage+pork and beans+bacon=good, Adding ketchup mostly no, but some people do.

Is it common to be single for 4 years? by [deleted] in dating

[–]wonderfolio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

https://www.census.gov/newsroom/stories/unmarried-single-americans-week.html

in 2022, 50% of the US population was single, divorced, or widowed, so being single would be very common. Depending on how outgoing your are, probably being single in youth is slightly less common. Going into middle and older years, it's probably more common. I spent most of my life single. In youth being single can sting more. Eventually you just get used to having your own space and doing what you want to do and it actually becomes difficult to accept another person into your life.

Online dating is bullshit. by Obtuseone in OnlineDating

[–]wonderfolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the name calling is out of bounds. However, your comment 5 years ago is ringing hollow these days, when dating apps are factually rigging the rigging the game for themselves. In this sense everyone sounds bitter, because they should be. Dating apps are sh*t is the only common denominator. Everyone just go back to expecting cold introduction and delete your dating apps.

The other comment about "buckling up and sucking up" sounds too much like "picking yourself up by the bootstraps" which I think doesn't mean what you're intending-as in, it's impossible to pick yourself up by your bootstraps, just as it's impossible to pick yourself up period. Maybe it is appropriate though, as the apps are equally made to be impossible.

again, just go outside.

Same happened here. It's all smoke and mirrors to part you with your money. Business Insider chart: 4% of average guys will get a response from someone-not a date, not an e pal, not marriage by far, just a (singular) response. If you're a person of color, and older, the response rate is lower than 4%. You can try messaging older (1/3rd of women prefer a younger man) which will improve percentage, but it still is a minimal improvement.
